I don't know her...

Hello Friends,

You know, lately when I come on here to post I look at that before and after picture of myself and I seriously wonder who that other person even was. I don't know her! I know that none of you knew me like that before picture but I had a totally different mindset and view on life than I do now.

Now I know that we don't have to just accept looking that way and feeling the way I did before. I just new that at my age of 50 before I started the BFC, I would always be that size - and nothing I did would change that - it was too late for me - so I'm just gonna eat what ever I want - who cares anyway - nobody....

Do any of those feeling sound familiar? Well you are not alone and it is possible to lose the weight like I did and keep it off forever. And here is the secret.......
Even though I felt in the beginning that I was on a diet (because I wasn't eating like everyone else) As I kept going and continuing to loose weight - I learned that eating healthy instead of all that CRAP I used to was all it takes to be what you want to be.

Topic Change;
So whats going on? First they keep saying don't eat wheat anymore cause it bad for us - now they keep saying to not eat Almond flour cause its bad for us....

Those of us that started eating almond flour in our baked goods realized early on that is was more fattening than other flours. We can't eat it all day every day and we figured that out, but to say its bad for us might be a stretch I think. Its just ground up almonds. Would we eat 50 almonds all at once?? NO -  So I think - like the wheat thing, in moderation is the key to everything we eat..  Thoughts?

Breakfast yesterday;
So I had a little pumpkin puree in a container in the fridge and need to use it up. So I made a pumpkin muffin. I saw on another healthy site I follow that she added coconut flour and flaxseed. So I made it like this;
1 tb of coconut oil (melted)
1 egg, some USA milk, 2 tb of coconut flour, 2 tb of fllaxseed, 1/2 t baking powder, 2 tb of pumpkin puree, spices-cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla and stevia drops.
I added in a few blueberries and crushed walnuts.

I mixed it all up in a small glass bowl and cooked in microwave. It was kind of thick so I had to keep cooking longer - like 5 min.
 I ate it with my homemade butter on top.

This morning I made another one with the last pumpkin but I made it with 2 tb coconut flour and 1 tb of psyllium husks - MUCH better...Not as dry and yummy with Natures Hollow preserves on top also.
Yesterday afternoon Hubby and I went to look at another house - you know just in case. Then we went to Islands for lunch. I ate a 1/2 jungle cesar chicken salad and some fries - like maybe 12 dipped in ranch. They are skinny.

Then we went ot his moms house in Pasadena - his sister who lives up north was down with her 2 girls just for the day. We visited and Hubby fell asleep on the couch. LOL Then he had to go to work at 6pm. I stayed for dinner and had a pc of chicken and pulled off the skin,  green beans, salad, and 3 bites of mac & cheese and 3 bites of a cake after.

By the time I got home it was 9:30pm and my furry girls were waiting and happy to see me. Its funny but when I am gone like that they never eat or hardly drink - just wait for me all day - well and probably sleep

Right now I am trying to be quiet while hubby takes a little sleep and he wants to go see that Tom Cruise movie - Oblivion when he wakes up before he goes to work.

Have a nice day - its gonna be between 85-90 here.

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. Good point about the almond flour. Maria commented on her Facebook page about that article. I haven't been making any treats with almond flour because I know I'll eat too many. Love the healthy eating "secret!"

  2. I Haven't Read Anything About Almond Flour. Sometimes I Feel Damned If We Do And Damned If We Don't. Oh Well.

    We Went To See That Movie Cause Hubby Wanted To. Such A Waste If Time And Money.

  3. Hi Rosalie! I love your comment about how you don't know that girl anymore! I can't wait for that day! Melody, I here what you're saying about the almond flour. You finally think you're getting it right and then someone comes along and knocks you're "new" way, and you're like "what the heck!" So we just keep knocking things off the list!!?? I don't know. I feel like I've cut out so many things. Any ways! Rosalie I hope you get your house VERY soon...maybe today will be the day! Thank you for all you do to encourage us in this healthier way of living!

  4. While I WOULD want to eat 50 almonds in one sitting... and likely have... I realize the point you are making. I, too, read that girl's article and chose to take it with a grain of salt. When someone makes a recipe with a cup or two of almond flour they are not likely going to eat it all as one serving. She can spout off about how wonderful coconut flour is as a better choice as much as she'd like. The end product of a recipe made with coconut flour next to that of one made with almond flour? Healthwise the coconut flour recipe would be better, I agree. But if it tastes like crap, who wants to eat it? I prefer to use both in combination, though rely more heavily on almond flour because IT TASTES GOOD. Someone on another blog mentioned trying her coconut pancake recipe that uses coconut flour and gelatin. I also made that same recipe. It doesn't taste good. It isn't particularly airy or light. But she is entitled to her opinion.

  5. I totally agree with you Rosalie.... moderation is key. I think that almonds have wonderful health benefits for the heart and provide essential vitamins and minerals. However, due to their fat content, they can't be consumed in large amounts for anyone trying to lose weight (that is just my opinion). Personally, I've chosen to switch recently to walnuts due to their higher Omega 3's (vs the almonds which have higher Omega 6's - but that's just me and trying to see if it helps with the mild inflammation in my body). But... again, moderation is key really.

    I know what you mean about not recognizing that person in the photo from before the BFC. I look at photos of me from a few years ago and I wonder what in the world I was thinking by letting myself get to that point (I was 197 after our 2nd son was born and three months later was still so large, swollen, and unhealthy looking).

    So happy that there are program out there that we can all pick the one that works the best for us. Happy the BFC worked for you (I love it too) - you look fabulous and are an inspiration to soooooooo many!! :)

  6. Rosalie - do you remember at what point 'it clicked' for you to decide to follow BFC? Nothing is clicking for me right now. I'm so frustrated.

    1. Dana, if you read back on my early posts you will see that It didn't click for a while but I just kept doing it and the weight kept coming off. However I was VERY strict with my eating and NEVER veered off. I stayed away from ANYTHING with sugar and it worked.

    2. Thanks Rosalie :-) I think that's the route I need to go...just follow the plan until it becomes routine and I see results. I did look back thru your Weight Loss Progress page and saw that the scale might not have moved alot but your measurements did. I need to keep that in mind too (that all goals can't be measured by the scale). Thanks again for blogging and providing support!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
