Homemade Ice Cream...

Hi Friends,

I just wanted to make this quick post on how easy it is to make homemade ice cream.

You don't need a ice cream maker or any special ingredients or recipes.
Remember this post on how I made homemade Almond Milk... I made most of the first batch into ice cubes and put it in a baggie in the freezer.

I remembered this afternoon that some were still in there and I thought, I better use them up before I move. LOL

I have a great blender a Vitamix we bought at the L.A. County Fair maybe 5 or 6 years ago. At that time I think we paid $299 at the sale price - but it was so worth it. It is by far the best blender I have ever had. It takes ice and makes it like a slurpee you get at 7-11.

Ingredients:
I put the rest of the Almond Milk ice cubes in the blender
some chocolate unsweetened breeze I had in the fridge (enough to make the right consistency)
about 6-8 drops of stevia
a small handful of Hershey's sugar free chocolate chips
and a small handful of walnuts
and a little bit of caramel extract.

Blend until it is done. I had to stop several times to stir the ice cubes when they got stuck.

I put the bowl in the freezer for a few minutes while I took the dogs for a walk and couldn't wait to get back and eat it. It was so good I ate the whole bowl. I am probably gonna get a tummy ache now. Well no one else was home and you can't re-freeze it or it will probably turn into 1 big ice cube.

Use your imagination for different flavors. The first time I put in some vanilla and fresh berries I had.

  1. Thanks...I've been dieing to try Jorge's recipe, but I can't find the Joseph's syrup. Nor do I have a quality blender, but I've seen the recipes where you do it in a baggie by hand. I will give it a whirl...ahahaha.

  3. I have been itching to make a Jomaca Almond Fudge ice cream recipe I saw on line so you're inspiring me. What are the Hershey's chips sweetened with? I can't find them here and the only ones I can find are sweetened with Malitol. Thanks! I saw a recipe to make your own chips which I may end up doing.

    1. I get hem at Wal-Mart and yes they are sweetened with Malitol. I use them only once in a while and only like 4 chips shouldn't upset our tummies.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
