Easy Oatmeal and a New Pizza Crust...

Hello Friends,

When I started the BFC 2 1/2 years ago - remember I told you that my Hubby was doing that 30 day raw food diet? Well he started eating oatmeal cold by just soaking it in unsweetened almond milk. I always thought it was gross not cooking it. He liked it so much that he continues to do it all the time when ever he gets in the mood for oatmeal.

So I have seen many people do this and have seen it on Pintrest, so I thought I would try it for myself.

We buy the Rolled Oats from Sprouts in the bins by the lb.
Fast and easy Oatmeal;
Get a small mason jar with lid
1/4 cup of Rolled oats
2 t chia seeds
1/2-1 cup of unsweetened Almond milk

*the chia seeds swell so you need enough milk to allow for that*
little bit of Natures Hollow Maple syrup 2 tb
a few blueberries and
Raspberries cut in half

Mix all real well in the mason jar, cover and place in Fridge over night - then eat in the morning. It was very good. Use your imagination for flavors using extracts and stevia.

My breakfast this morning - I made some scrambled eggs w/cheese to eat along with the oatmeal.
Since I listened to that podcast on Sweeteners, I have switched to Stevia and still use Xylitol for baked goodies too. I really like the way it tastes in my morning coffee. To me it has a much Cleaner taste - that's the only way I can explain it.

As I shopped for Stevia I found that a lot of them had additives and this one above was the only one I could find that did not. 3-5 drops is enough for me and that should last me a long time I hope cause it was $20.

Lunch today;
OK so thru Trina pointing to this YouTube video on a pizza crust, I decided to try it.
Pizza Crust
serves 2.
Ingredients:
1/4 c coconut flour (sift)
1/4 c ground flaxseed
3 eggs
1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
spices: garlic, red pepper, and italian spices

Mix all together and form 2 pizza shapes on Parchment paper on a cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 for 10 min. - then flip for 10 more min.
remove and add your toppings and place under broiler for a few minutes - then done.

I used alfredo sauce (but pasta sauce would have been better I think - I was out), mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, jalapenos and turkey sausage crumbles. It was very different for pizza  - try it please and let me know how you like it.

Oh yeah - desert after lunch was a CheeseCake muffin with natures hollow on top.

Went for a 2 mile walk today with the girls. Today I made another batch of the chocolate treats. I remember someone said they put peppermint extract in them, so when I went to the store last time I only cold find Mint extract and put some in this time. I was not crazy about the taste - but now I have to eat them all anyway. Oh Well. Last batch I put Maple extract in them and they were AWESOME!

Dinner tonight might be chicken wings maybe and green beans. IDK - I am solo again.

Someone had a good post about your metabolism and the food you eat. You really have to make what you eat count. I do try to stay away from most processed foods now. Not because I have to for my diet - but because I choose to eat real foods now that are healthier for me. I actually WAY prefer to eat at home now. I know what I am putting in my mouth.

We all eat out sometimes and we have to learn to make the right choices when we do. Don't give in to peer pressure of those around you and feel that you have to eat what they do just to fit in.

Do like I do and take 1 thing that you really want and just have 1-3 bites and then walk away. I have done this from the beginning on special occasions and it has worked great for me. That way you get to taste it without overdoing it and feeling guilty the next day.

Don't waste energy on feeling guilty - it doesn't help anyone, especially yourself.

If you are using your 6 servings a day of carbs eating bad carbs - well then that might be why you are not losing any weight. Learn to choose the right carbs with the most nutritional value. For Example: Although I do love potatoes, I hardly ever eat them any more. I will maybe when I order a burger out wrapped in lettuce and then have a few fries with it dipped in ranch.

Learn to make the right choices without feeling guilty after. Trust me - once others get used to you never giving in to them and never eating any different and they see how great you look and how you are doing - they will be so proud of you and start asking what it is that you are doing.

This is PurpleRosy singing off...

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. OK ... your review on the pizza crust wasn't encouraging ... lol. I tried a Maximized Living almond crust one that I didn't like - I preferred the cauliflower one. I was hoping the coconut flour version was better than the almond flour one - more like a "bread" crust I guess. There were lots of positive reviews for it over at Marks Daily Apple.

I put the peppermint extract in my homemade chocolates. In fact my oldest son just ate my last one tonight. I LOVE chocolate and mint together. I don't add anything like nuts/coconut - just chocolate mint. We love them :)

If I was eating grains I'd try that oatmeal - maybe someday in the future after I lose a few more pounds. My cousin's kids all eat oatmeal raw. They keep a big bin of rolled oats in their kitchen and their kids scoop some in a bowl and add milk. I never thought it sounded too appetizing but ... don't knock it 'till you try it right?

Don't you find it much easier choosing healthier food now that you don't crave junk? I think it was much harder before to have will power than it is now - I'm so grateful to have found the information about sugar and made these changes before I wasted many more years – just wish I’d figured it out sooner. Thanks for keeping us all motivated Rosalie!

    1. I'm with u girl.. I "tried" to diet so many other times but it wasn't until the BFC that it finally clicked as a healthy lifestyle not a temporary diet. I must be really sugar sensitive because as soon as I quit it the cravings and over eating vanished.

    2. I know for some it may be the carbs too. My Mom was a carbaholic for sure and after several months of listening to me blabber on about sugar and carbs (and watching me lose 25 pounds) she decided maybe there was some truth to what I was telling her. She didn't go as "drastic" as myself but did severely reduce her carbs and what sugar she was having (like in yogurt). She told me that was one of the first things she noticed ... she didn't feel as hungry (she had gotten to the point where she was hungry all the time which I think is from too many carbs - it's a vicious blood sugar cycle). She also lost her cravings – that took a few weeks but she is doing great (down 13 pounds) and she is feeling much better.

  2. Having a guilt inducing relationship with food is SO unhealthy.

  3. Lot's of good advice! Thanks:) Did you see the pizza crust made from chicken? I think it sounds better than most. I guess at some point I will have to try new ideas. I put a pepperoni quesedilla recipe on my pinterest that looked easy and good. You like the whole wheat tortilla's so that would fit right in!

  4. I used to eat oatmeal almost everyday before the BFC, but the instant kind with maple and brown sugar! Ugh! I still love the taste of oats though, co I'm sure I'd love the raw version. I have to look up the carb count on that.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
