Idle Mind makes me Crazy...

Good Morning Friends,

Yesterday was a bit difficult for me. Not food wise, I have that licked but I felt just awful. I think I have been alone way too much lately and knowing that I can't really go anywhere and spend any money - I have too much time to think I guess.

You all know I am 53 and still get my monthly. GRRR. There are times of the month that I can feel my hormones drop. I get a bad feeling in my stomach and then I feel real bad. Ladies my age do any of you get this? I had my period not even 3 weeks ago and I am spotting again. I am told this is the sign of when it will stop soon??? My mom had been gone for over 10 years so I can't ask her.

I tried to keep busy yesterday and painted my nails, vacuumed up and down stairs, mopped - then found a couple of dirty spots and got out the carpet shampooer and cleaned them. When I went to empty the new Dyson canister it had so much dog hair it got stuck LOL. I got the canister one and I think its a bit smaller then the upright - but Me Likey!!

I was gonna clean all the bathrooms too and do the grass - but I have to pace myself. I need something to do today and tomorrow. Ha-ha.

We are supposed to go back to the new house this morning to sign off on the 2 things they were supposed to fix. Fun - I get to dream and see my almost - maybe new house again. It's so beautiful and I will be so lucky if we actually DO get to close in the end of July.

My breakfast was a flaxseed muffin w/ the coconut butter, real butter, cinnamon and truvia mixture on top (love that) and a few berries.
Lunch was a Almond Crust pizza and 2 squares of 86% dark chocolate later for a snack.
Dinner was a spinach salad and wings. and I had some Chocolate -Chia decaf tea that I got at cost-plus world market after.

I really love and appreciate that I have found the Belly Fat Cure. If I hadn't I know I would be fat and miserable still. I appreciate the fact that Jorge is always trying to find new ways to make money - but they are just that. I think sometimes he says what he thinks people want to hear and not what is best for them.

For those of us that have lost a lot of weight - it was by the Original BFC. Not the Fast Track or by skipping breakfast. And now his latest thing, he says he is developing a Carb Cycling program for women. If you Google Carb Cycling - you will see that tons of people have been doing that to lose weight for many years. He did not think of it, just FYI.

For ME the Original BFC is the best and only way to live for the rest of my life. I feel healthy and I get to eat stuff every day that I really like to eat. I think that is the most important part. I NEVER thought the Fast Track was a good idea at all!! I think you will start to feel left out and deprived and then you will be tempted to eat bad and cheat!! That winds up happening to most everyone who does the FT.

Please remember - this is just my opinions on what has worked the absolute BEST for ME and I know it will work for you too.

Thanks for listening and lots of love to you all.

Congrats to all of you losers.

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

My thought for the day:

Nature Loves Courage

Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up…This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a feather bed.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. I feel you on the lonely thing! My hubby travels for work and until I discovered BFC, I was spiraling out of control with depression and loneliness...food was my answer...ugh! Hope everything falls into place with your house. We are also house hunting...not fun! You rock! Keep on keeping on and inspiring all of us. :)

  2. I didn't know he was recommending skipping breakfast. That's just intermittent fasting, which others are already talking about. I guess all ideas are eventually recycled ideas.

    1. Jorge recommends skipping breakfast on his 3 day extreme plan. I believe you are right that it's based on the science of “intermittent” fasting. There is research that supports the idea the "intermittent" fasting is good for the body.

This is from Mark Sisson about fasting, “A recent review of the relevant literature found that while fasting and caloric restriction are “equally as effective in decreasing body weight and fat mass,” fasting is “more effective for the retention of lean mass.”

    2. Yes, I actually learned about it from his website and use that method myself from time to time.

  3. Rosalie, I think it's wonderful that BFC worked so well for you. I was looking at your weight loss progress (and Amber's). You both seemed to lose pretty consistently. I did Jorge's extreme plan twice and lost weight both times. Both times when I went back to eating 15/6 I gained two pounds. I started to wonder if I just couldn't handle the carbs. Once I dropped my carb intake to under 80 gr/day (eliminating all grains) and my sugar is always under 10 gr/day the weight seemed more consistent. However, for two weeks I was stuck at the same weight - just yesterday it dropped a smidge. It's like a giant scientific experiment ... lol ...

  4. Dear SistahFriend...I hear ya on the hormones. I am going to be 50 this september. I had a total hysto 8 years ago. I did not do HRT...but it seemed to take several years for my body to 'settle' in regards to hormones. 3 years ago my buddah belly hit me hard. Thus the need for the BFC. I would say...maybe you should talk to your gyn. xox from Oregon

  5. I totally agree about Fast track making you feel deprived. Every time I try to limit my carbs, I tend to cheat from deprivation. Weight loss is a lot faster w/o the carbs, but slow and steady wins the race. Sorry you are feeling lonely! If I weren't so overwhelmed with work and my kids crazy school and sports schedules, I'd stop by and we could do lunch or swim or window shop or walk (trying to think of inexpensive or free things to do). Don't feel bad about not spending money. I can't spend money and I work.....now that sucks! Trying to save for my vacation nxt month, a remodel on the dumpy house, and health and dental insurance because my husband is self employed and my job is part time (sort of)! :)

PS-Sorry this is rambling, but I haven't slept much lately!

  6. I had a hysterectomy about 8 years ago, but I kept my ovaries. I have hot flashes, hormonal depression, crankiness, bloating...and I never track it to know when it is coming. I had friends that still had issues into their 70's! Doesn't that sound fun? They have decided that hormone therapy does not cause cancer now, so the Dr. may be able to put you on a low dose of hormones. If mine gets more annoying, I may think about it!
    Good luck:)

  7. I really wish I was motivated to clean when I feel like that :( But no, I just want to curl up and do nothing during those times. I'm having a little procedure to get rid of my period, I'll write about when it happens.

Also Rosie, I know many people who have lots tons of weight on the Fast Track.

  8. Rosalie, I want to borrow some of your house keeping energy.

My mom and I are very different in that she takes after her dad's family and I am a carbon copy of her mother. My mom thrives on grains and feels lurgy if she eats too much meat. I feel starving and evil on a well-rounded vegetarian diet but I could eat meat and salad every meal and be happy. I have the addictive reaction to grain and starch based carbs where I get fatigued and super hungry for more when I eat them. That's why Fast Track is right for me. My mom, like you, would probably rather gnaw her own arm off than spend a week on Fast Track.

Moral of the story: We all rock for finding what works best for us and we're lucky enough to have found a community of fantastic, inspiring women that wouldn't exist if not for the Belly Fat Cure.

  9. I get the roller coaster periods too and then it stopped for 6 months but I felt the cycle once a month ( just no period ) so I have been taking "Remifemin" it's a black Cohosh natural product - I find it's helpful calm things down; plus they way were are eating is very helpful :-) if you want some reading on the subject I like.
Dr Christine Northrup http://www.drnorthrup.com/healthwisdom/ also Lorna R. Vanderhaeghe A to Z she has her book online for free reading. You need to get your doctor to check your hormone levels to see where you are at, everyone is different.

  10. I hear ya - it's more fun to spend the long holiday wekeends with our husbands. Sounds like you kept busy and ate really well. The pizza looks yummy! I just bought a cauliflower yesterday so I could try the cauliflower crust pizza that you've shown before. Now I may have to make the almond crust on too - have you posted that recipe as well?

I hear ya on the monthly thing!! Hope you're feeling better today! Have a great day Rosalie :)

  11. Hi Rosalie, Hope your feeling better. When I went thru menopause my cycles just stopped out of the blue -almost like when you are pregnant. But I've heard LOTS of people take awhile and spot and stuff like that. I went thru hot flashes but they only lasted 10 minutes or so at a time and weren't too bad. Moody and emotional - yes! Plus sleep gets messed up - but you're already dealing with that. For about a year I took an herbal supplement called "herbal equilibrium" that I bought here http://www.womentowomen.com/products/herbalequilibrium.aspx But back then you didn't have to enroll or anything you just could buy individual products, and that's what I did. Don't like enrolling in programs. You could read the ingredients and find something similar somewhere else.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
