Fiber on the BFC...

Hello Friends,

So yesterday when I signed on here, there was a new format. Or was it here the whole time and I just ignored it? I am not sure that I like it at all. I am a creature of habit, but I am willing to give it a try. It just looks weird to me.

Lately it seems like the viewers on our little bloggin community are dwindling away. Where is everyone? If you are reading, leave a little comment and let us know you are there and who you are. We really appreciate knowing that there are others going through the same thing as us. Support is so important.

Here's what I ate yesterday:
breakfast; 5/1
I love Peanut butter on toast with a little butter underneath, only now I have to eat the low sugar kind - but Oh well. That's also 1/2 avocado and 2 fried eggs. You know that peanut butter commercial stole my idea, see my pic? I have been doing this for years.

I Do believe in eating a good breakfast aand have done this since starting the BFC over 2 years ago. I think it keeps you more satisfied and you will not be tempted to cheat later on in the day. Just make sure to stay under 5/2

lunch; 3/1
This is a zucchini pizza; I sliced lengthwise a small zucchini and grilled it w/Olive oil under the broiler in the toaster oven browned on both sides, then removed and put some pesto sauce, ricotta cheese, mozzerella cheese, and a hotlink cut up.

A spinach salad w/goat cheese and bacon bits and 1 gm of sugar dressing (but I accidentily poured a bit too much)
I was doing so much stuff on the computer and it was kind of rainy but the dogs kept looking at me so we just went around 1 time with sprinkles on our heads.

dinner; 3/0
I made some salmon patties. I used a small can of salmon, added some cut up onion, jalapeno (of course), 1 egg, garlic powder, a spoon of salsa and a bit of feta cheese. It made 2 patties and I fried them in EVOO. This was so good and easy. I ate it with 6 brussel sprouts (which is 2 gms of sugar BTW for 6).

desert was a cup of decaf tea and some RediWhip in a bowl. Later on while I was watching that new scary TV show called The River, it made me hungry (being nervous) so I had 1 lemon and 1 shortbread cookie.

Yesterday someone was asking about Fiber:

That was always a problem for me in the beginning and I tried many things. Now I have no problem going #2, so here's what I do;
I put some Benefiber in my morning coffee.
I think some of the vitamins I take daily help. (the list in near the bottom of my Fave Products page)
I make sure to choose foods that have a better fiber content in them. Look at labels and eat some veggies daily that have a good  content in them.
There is a website called NutritionData.com that is helpful in finding out the nutritional value in foods if you are not sure, and a program I have on my Android phone called Calorie Counter by Fat secret, but always look at the label of your food and brand first.
I make sure to drink lots of water. I do drink my morning coffee maybe 2 cups then usually it's just water all day after that.
Only once in a great while do I have a Zevia or Blue skies soda. Not every day cause some of them have up to 1 serving of carbs. Boy did I ever think I could go with out my diet soda before?? Never - but here I am, pretty much soda-less and feeling great!

I hope that helps (you didn't put your name)

Thanks for listening. Lots of Love to you all.

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

My thought for the day:

Special Light

We are each gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  2. I read your blog every day Rosalie. Sorry I haven't posted anything. After doing the BFC for several months I learned that I have diabetes so I've been a little down and trying to deal with things. I will try more often to respond so you know I am still out here.

My name is Nicole and again, thank you for all your wisdom! I wasn't sure this lifestyle was going to work until I did research and found you! When you see someone has succeed, at least for me it helps with the motivation and keeping the faith it will too in turn work for me! Hardship and all (though I find this very easy and am even converting my friends who were doing the HTC diet or whatever) I'm proof it works to them! I will also refer them to your blog :)

  7. I'm poking around the blogs too! I started with Kay's and am working thru the list! Kay was nice enough to respond to my request of what her 'go to' foods are. I'm trying to look for that on the other blogs too but keep stopping to read the blog itself!

That saying is true that everyone has a story and I love how everyone keeps plugging away even if the going gets tough. Thank you for blogging about your BFC adventure.

  9. Hi Rosie,
I rarely comment, but I do read your blog EVERY DAY! I love all of your wisdom and advice.
So, I hit my goal weight of 175 a few weeks ago. I was just making sure I was truly there before announcing it. When I was 214 lbs., the goal of 175 seemed realistic. Now that I am 175, I have set a new goal of 160 lbs. So exciting. My success is due in a large part to your encouragement. I so much appreciate your support.
    Thanks
    Lisa

    1. Lisa that's so awesome to hear. I am so proud of you! But I think you should set your goal for the weight you really want to be. Is it 150? or less? We should put that, whatever it is.
Which Lisa are you on our list?? so I can change it.

      Great job girl :-)

  11. I am still reading! Just don't have time to post much. I have doing great sticking to my plan and during my PMS time baked some coconut flour muffins that were so good and saved me from a big cheat! Now I am stuck and not losing and just can't get under 160, BUT I know from the past that I just have to keep going and eventually it will start again!

  12. I here. But...after much proscratination...hubby & I have officially started BFC today. I had been having a hard time finding products in this podunk town. And something clicked yesterday...so it's official. No excuses. I am going to have to try to be creative of which I have no creative bone in my body, so that will be a challenge. Sigh. I'm already bummed. ~melody in oregon~

  13. I'm here, reading every day! Been on the BFC for one month and lost 13 lbs. Your recipe pages got me through the initial hurdles when I needed to bake something as a sweet treat but still stay away from sugar. Thank you for your blog and listing everything you eat every day! You are a huge inspiration and have great advice. There are many days when I stay under the 15/6 but my calorie counts look SO SCARY HIGH (2,000 cals) and yet I just keep on rolling with it and the weight melts off as promised by avoiding the sugar/carb pitfalls. Thanks Rosy!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
