Monday of week 11: Belly Fat Cure

This morning I woke up and was down 4 1/2 lbs from sthe week before. I thought for sure I would gain some weight from the weekend - but I think I am doing good. I went to visit my Dad in Las Vegas this morning. He's been in the hospital. He's 83 and he fell down face first and hurt himself, So I am writing this from there.  I did good today with eating even though I am not at home.
Everyone keeps telling me that they are proud of me. It was great to see my dad and show him how my pants are getting baggy on me.
Well I have to go - my sisters are yelling at me.
Love to everyone

Keep on BFC ' n :-)

  2. I hope your dad is doing OK. My own dad is 81. I am wondering why I can't seem to lose any weight on this diet. I gain no matter what. I am too afraid to try again. Can you tell us what you typically eat in a day? Maybe there is a clue I am missing.

  3. I just found your blog this morning and went back to read your history. Like you, I lost some weight the first couple of weeks and then nothing for the next 4 weeks. I haven't given up though. I don't have that much to lose. I am 5'5" and 155#s. I would like to lose 15 - 20 #s.

I have been a low carber for the last 10 years or so, but my problem was eating too much of the low carb stuff. I think that is why I have maintained my weight, but at least I haven't been putting weight on. For the 6 weeks I have been on the BFC program, I have kept to under 15/6 with the count divided up between meals - so 5/2g 3 times per day. My total carbs have stayed under 100grams.

For most of the time I have focused on getting my bowels moving again. I have taken so many antibiotics that I think I did my "good bugs" in. I have also been an exlax junkie for almost 25 years since my bowels never seemed to want to move on their own. So I have been taking plenty of Probiotics. I have also taken 1 T physillium husks every day along with a fiber laxative. I think I have gotten rid of all the hidden belly fat (junk in my intestines). I am going to keep eating high fiber and slowly start weaning myself off the other stuff, to see if my body can process on its own.

Now that I completed that nasty task - I wondered why I wasn't losing more. I am very happy about eating healthy, and have replaced almost everything in my house with healthy alternatives.

I was reading Ambers blogs at www.meandjorge.com and noticed she eats way less than I do. So I decided on top of my 15/6 max sugars and carbs, to also take a look at my calorie count. I know Jorge says to not do that - but I found that I was eating 1800 - 2000 calories in a day. I am going to try and continue monitoring my sugar and carb consumption and slowly lower my calories until I find the sweet spot that will allow me to start losing weight again.

Thank you for your blog. You are an inspiration. Barb

  4. Hi - Just found your blog. I am sorry you are not losing quickly, but it makes me feel better to see others in a similar situation and not giving up! I have followed the BFC plan since Jan and lost 25 pounds, but I went a whole month and didn't lose anything. I was actually following Jorge's meal plan during that time, but when I started to plan my own meals I started to lose again. I think because I needed more fiber. Well thanks for sharing!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
