Just eat REAL foods....

Good Morning Friends,

How is everyone today? I am really hoping that today will be much better than yesterday, it wound up being a stressful day full of tension and grief. Well that is over and today is a new day.

For all of you Wheat-Belly head people, did you see him yesterday on Dr Oz? You know a lot of the stuff he points out to be good to eat and healthy for us are mostly what we eat on the BFC already...

The main thing I have learned in the past almost 3 years is how much healthier it is for us to eat REAL foods as opposed to Pre-made-Processed CRAP! The eggs and cheese that we always have been taught is bad for us - is not!! That is real food.

Don't eat those pre-made TV dinners, Make your own food at home. Basically its just that simple. When you eat Real Foods at home, you know exactly what you are eating. If you like sweet treats like me, by making them at home - it then becomes a Healthy-Sweet-Treat and you won't have to feel guilty eating them. Unless you eat the whole batch. LOL

My breakfast yesterday was 2 pancakes left over from the day before with peanut butter and natures hollow on top, turkey bacon, eggs and berries.
Lunch was 2 slices of that paleo-almond flour bread, I tried to grill them in butter in a pan first - only helped a tiny bit, with pepperjack cheese and avocado on top.
We went for a 1.8 mile walk in the afternoon.

My dinner was broccoli, brussel sprouts, turkey sausage crumbles and some alfredo sauce.
After dinner I ate the last 2 brownies I made with some RediWhip

I noticed lately that Olive watches TV with me a lot lately. She loves it.
This morning I had a load of laundry on the floor that I was gonna put in, and me being silly wrapped a shirt around each dog. Peaches walked by the mirror and saw herself and couldn't stop looking. She jumped on top of Olives crate to get a better look. She kept fuffing at herself. So funny.
Either that or she was looking at our Invisibles in the mirror. LOL

This morning I made this gorgeous Omelet with some green pepper and baby spinach sauted in EVOO and some turkey crumbles and cheese, with a tiny bit of cottage cheese and berries.
For lunch today I am gonna make myself a pizza made with Almond flour crust.

I have been putting off balancing the checkbook - but must do today so I can go grocery shopping at Sprouts and Sams Club, then probably to Ralphs for what ever is left.

It looks like the rain is gone so the weather is great over here, in the low 70's. Great walking weather.

Have a Great day. This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. man, don't you hate it when you have to use up a food that you don't really like because it cost you money? That sure is a bummer. I missed Dr Oz yesterday - I was going to set the DVR and then I forgot. It is a fairly similar way to eat, just with less carbohydrate. Have a great day!

  2. Actually Dr. Davis recommends most people stick to 15 gr net carbs per meal so very similar. Only difference is he is against wheat completely (for reasons he explains thoroughly in his book) and suggests most people would do better with no grains/starches/sugar at all. Did you catch the blood test Dr. Oz did? 3 out of 5 spiked higher blood sugar after eating two slices of WW bread than eating a Snickers bar? That is scary. Peaches is SO cute!

    1. I actually watched the episode again tonight with my husband. 2 of the 3 that spiked high blood sugar went twice as high with the bread than with the Snickers bar. I think that was pretty eye opening for Dr. Oz. With soaring blood sugar you'd be making tons on insulin and locking in fat (or storing more).

    2. I missed the show...but that detail sure explains alot with me and my experience. As soon as I eat wheat of any kind my cravings are full on! Good to know how it is spiking my insulin. Thanks...and by the way sorry I have been gone for so long I had some computer issue and life issues but I am back now :-)

Not sure that's where that goes, but there it is. I found a flatbread @ Wal-Mart this weekend. Joseph's Flax, Oat bran, and Whole Wheat Lavash Bread. 50 calories, 0g sugar and 7g carbs.

I'm glad I found your blog Rosy. I found you through Me and Jorge and YouTube. I know BFC is something I can do and the more I learn, the easier it seems. Thanks for the encouragement. :)

  4. Those doggies sure are entertaining. I just love animals and think they keep us sane sometimes. I know it's weird, but my guinea pig does the same for us....she's hilarious and sweet rolled up in one. I saw the Dr. Oz and have the Wheat Belly book.....and I still eat wheat sometimes. I would love not to, but I just can't seem to give it up. I was pretty surprised at the blood sugar results.....when Dr Oz gave wheat bread and took blood levels and on a diff. day (I think) gave a candy bar and took blood levels. I couldn't believe that the sugar levels were higher after eating the wheat.....I'm gonna go eat a candy bar....hehehe....JK! :)

  5. I see Dr. Davis's point. however, There is also the glycemic index. If you eat just the bread, of COURSE it's going to spike your blood sugar. But when you put meat, cheese, mayo, and veggies inbetween, I know that will change the glycemix index and blood sugar response. So he's right but he's wrong. Its very individual. Some people are responsive but I never had good luck with those kinds of diets. BFC is about as much low carb as I want to go. LC does bad things to my body. YMMV.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
