They Just Don't Get it...

Hello Friends,

  • Boy some people just don't get it.
  • They might not ever get it.
  • I didn't get it in the beginning either. If you read some of my earlier posts when I first started the BFC you will see that I didn't get it either. It actually took me quite a while before I did get it.

What do I mean? This Healthy way of eating is a Lifestyle change - ForEver not just a Diet or a FAD!!

**Last week on Facebook I posted a picture of the new Stevia drops I bought with this comment:
After listening to this podcast on Sweeteners, it really opened my eyes to which sweeteners are healthy for us. http://purplerosy.blogspot.com/2012/07/sweeteners.html
I have really been enjoying my new bottle of Stevia drops in my morning coffee instead of the Truvia I used to use.

Then my baby-sis made this comment:

Her; Rosalie I keep seeing you post stuff like this and you worry me cause you're not gonna be able to eat anything pretty soon!
Me;  I have no idea what that means Kattie - this is a sweetener made from a plant - it's healthy for you.
Her; Like there was another post u had about not drinking soda ever again and I thought this was saying ur not gonna eat sweeteners ever again.
Me; my friend posted that about soda - but no I won't ever have another diet soda like before. I like being healthy :-)

So that made me realize that some people will just never understand why I eat the way I do now, why I never cheat and give in and why I will NEVER eat the way I did again!!

In my early posts I remember feeling like I could never eat this way forever. I remember feeling deprived and kind of left out from everyone else. I used to say this IS a DIET not a lifestyle because I could never eat like THIS FOREVER!!!

That is really how I felt for at least 2 months or more - I think...

But as I started losing weight and realized that I was eating foods that I liked to eat every day (which is so important)  and realized what those foods were doing for me - after a while I changed my thought process. But not without putting up a real good fight with myself.

Sugar is such a drug and I know that now! Sugar is in everything I used to eat. All those bad carby processed foods all contained a ton of sugar and just kept me FAT.

I can never imagine myself having a diet soda again EVER!! or eating a big plate of my favorite Chili Cheese Fries ever again!!

I used to think I missed all that stuff, including all the fruit I don't eat now, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT??

I Really-Really DON"T at all. I know if I ever went back to any of those foods again - it will send me spiraling back down the same road I used to be on and that will make me fat again -

Which I Will Never Allow To Happen..

Just remember that it will take time for those kind of feelings to go away completely - and remember that most others that eat like everyone else - Will just not get what we are doing. They will not understand why you won't eat lie them now that you have done this for so long...

Even my step-mom Maria and my sister Lisa used to say: " Now that you are skinny you can eat whatever you want now."

See - they didn't get it.

We are Strong - We are Healthy - and We have Each Other for Support

You know I used to feel so bad about myself. I just knew that at my age I would always be fat!! Now I know that's not true at all!! It's not gonna be easy-peasy...

Sometimes now I still don't feel that great about myself. I think its left-over feelings. I look down at myself and see so many flaws..
My calves are too big
my thighs are fat
my tummy isn't perfect

Can you all relate???

But we have to reach past those STUPID feelings and realize that we are perfect just the way we are.

real quick what I ate yesterday;
breakfast; 2 eggs and 2 cheesecake muffins w/natures hollow and a few berries
lunch; shirataki noodles, some left over chicken cut up, broccoli, alfredo sauce and parmesan cheese and 1 chocolaty treat after.
snack; some veggie straws dipped in a bit of hummus.
dinner; 6 brussel sprouts and 8 little shrimp
desert; a chocolate-almond-protein-bite and rediwhip.

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  2. I can relate! My sister is that way with me; She looks at me as if I'm a freak because I have a homed sugar free low carb, grain free coffeecake, strawberry sugar free cupcakes, oatmeal cookies, chocolate fudge, almond protein bites, and peanut butter balls all in the fridge from what I have been baking and making. I don't care, I am proud of these goodies i make, because unlike here, i am healthier. She may not gain weight easily, but deep inside I can only care for myself and know that she may be able to eat past for dinner, lots of it-- and i could too, but i don't want to because I am educated and I know what it will do to me. I may fall at times, but who doesn't? No one is perfect, we just gotta do whats best for us, not others, but for us.

  3. Dr. Getoff had a great line - he said, "you can't teach people what they don't want to learn.". I loved it. Since I figured all this out I was blabbing to anyone who would listen about sugar and carbs and many of them just don't want to know. They are overweight and complaining about their situation but still think they can handle it the "old" way. They tell me they don't eat much sugar even though they're having a skinny latte at Starbucks made with skim milk (how much sugar is in that???). I decided not to talk unless someone genuinely seems interested in knowing what I'm doing and seems open to learning something new. It’s sad when someone thinks you are eliminating a necessary food group by never drinking soda again … wow. I rise above these kinds of comments now – the “truth” will set you free (and make you skinnier and healthier) :)

  4. Another great post! Unless someone is willing to listen and believe, they never will. I have given up even mentioning it.

  6. I still drink diet soda, whoops. It doesn't give me cravings and I'm still losing. I recognize that it isn't healthy and only drink it once or twice a week. I might stop someday. The belly fat cure has taught me that diet soda is naughty so it's an indulgence! Before I would have thought is healthy and had it all the time because it was allowed.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
