It Smells Good Over Here...

Hello Friends,

Well it turned out I was a bit too lazy yesterday to clean the bathrooms after all that yard work Monday.
If I was a dog - I would look like that
I did go shopping for groceries though. Kim made a post the other day about This product:

I have had this on my shopping list for at least 6 months and could not find it anywhere. When Kim mentioned it  I decided to give it another try and - sure enough it was right there in Sprouts near the spices. Yeah - Thanks Kim.
My lunch yesterday was some Quinoa  w/turkey sausage crumbles and some kale w/chicken bullion, cumin for flavor. I don't like the smell of Kale when hubby juices and adds it in - but this was VERY good. I was just using what I had at home before I went to the store.

Dinner last night was a spinach salad and chicken.

Desert was some chia pudding, but this time I used 1 cup of vanilla unsweetened almond milk, 1 truvia, 4 tb of chia seeds and some raspberries and blueberries inside. All I have to say is OMG - it was yum good.
My breakfast this morning, a flaxseed muffin, turkey bacon, and berries.

So then I got bored and you all know how bad my sweet tooth is - couldn't decide whether to make some lemon cookies or Sinful cinnamon cakes. I posted it on Facebook and you all were no help - kind of split on the subject - so I did the only thing that was the RIGHT thing to do.

I MADE BOTH!!!
I must have packed my square muffin pan - so round it is...OOOHH these smelled so GOOD!!
*recipes on my recipe tab of course*
So while the lemon cookies were in the oven I boiled and then shredded a head of cauliflower.
After the cinnamon cakes were done, I made a cauliflower crust pizza for lunch - I could eat this every day...Yum!

BTW - I can't believe how expensive it is to eat healthy. I seemed to save a ton of money before eating top ramon, cheap frozen foods and $1 stuff from the burger joints. Yesterday I spent $68 at Walmart, $71 at Sams club and $116 at Sprouts cause I needed probiotics and all that stuff that you just buy once a month or so. Who knows, maybe I was spending that much anyway on junk and just didn't pay attention cause money wasn't as tight.

Well I hope you all have a great day. The weather over here is fabulous as usual. Don't forget to visit my friends blogs on the list below.

My thought for the day:

Invest in Goodness

Goodness is the only investment that never fails.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. When I first started BFC, I thought it was really expensive too. Then I started realizing all of the money I spent on things that I don't buy anymore. Soda, we always had a couple of 12 packs in the garage, cookies, chips (whoops, I still buy those) just junky crap food. The probiotics are killer expensive. I am trying some that I got at Target that are 60 of them for 9.00. So far so good, they help prevent my being gassy and that is what I want them for!
    Your yummies look good!

  2. It is expensive to eat healthy, I can only hope it will help our health 'later' and costs won't be as high. Have a great night!

  4. I was also "hit" by how expensive it is to eat healthy and as humanely as possible. I am giving Whole Foods some serious $ between mine at home and the one at the in-laws. I haven't tried chia pudding yet but it sounds delish and I could use some additional fiber given I'm sitting in a car and class most of the day...hmmm, TMI! LOL

  5. For the cauliflower....I grate it with a cheese grater first, then nuke it for 8 minutes. I will try the pudding...but I'm not keen on how the seeds get fury when wet.

  6. Melody - I steam my broccoli just for a few minutes in a pot of water first then shred. That was I have a bowl of shredded cauliflower in the fridge in case I want to make some fake mashed potatoes.

And the chia seeds just swell up not fury :-)

  7. Ooo ... I made mashed "potatoes" tonight with cauliflower - very yummy (my kids didn't think so). I'm keen to try those lemon cookies. I just made homemade mint chocolates tonight so I'll have a little something to snack on when the mood strikes (no sugar of course).

It's funny, I was involved in some analysis regarding percentage of income spent on things now vs. say in the 60's. They spent a much higher percentage of their income on food (and other things like appliances) than we do now. We just think eating healthy is expensive because there is SO much cheap food available today. At the end of the day, you can't put a value on your health - without it nothing else really matters ;)

  8. Yesterday I came home from Trader Joe's and hubby was a little taken aback at how much I spent...you would have thought I had spent a ton of money on myself instead of healthy stuff for the both of us. Go figure. Have a great day :)

  10. SO glad you found the Nutritional Yeast. I love it on my popcorn! It totally tastes to me like the "fake" cheesey stuff that I use to sprinkle on my popcorn - BUT love that I'm getting my B vitamins which are important for my mood :)

Everytime I see your cauliflower crust pizza I want to make it - I'm putting it on the menu tonight!!! Also would love to try those lemon cookies. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day Roaslie :)

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
