You really have to change your way of thinking...

Good Morning Everyone,

I have been thinking about some things the past few weeks about the Belly Fat Cure so I'm just gonna share like I always do.

You really have to change your way of thinking in terms of dieting once you start the BFC. It's not like anything else. It's totally different. So just wipe your head clean and pretend you know nothing about anything to do with nutrition.

All the stuff I have always thought was bad for me is really not once you change you whole way of eating and just simply cut out all the sugar and artificial stuff.

I was told eggs are bad for you and to only eat them once a week.
I always thought cheese was SOOO fattening, so I didn't eat it that much even though I LOVE it.
I thought Diet Coke was better for you cause it had no calories, so I drank 1 ever day.
I always thought it was better to eat any kind of fruit than other stuff.

Now I know I was wrong and that is why I was so heavy before.

I am very happy and honored to be considered you coach in out weight loss journey. I guess since I have actually done it and have been successful, it doesn't hurt to share everything I have learned along my way.

She had a few questions, so here goes;

Using MyFitnessPal is a great idea. Many people do.
It is very important not to ever go over the 15/6 per day and 5/2 per meal.

When you are adding your totals, add everything from your meal together. That means everything you put in your mouth. Sauces and everything.

We Don't count calories on the BFC. I do look at the labels when buying food and take that in consideration sometimes when choosing what to buy.

Eating cheese is a great idea between meals but just make sure to not eat too much at a time cause it is fattening. Eat a piece with a small handful of walnuts maybe.

You absolutely DON'T need to eat all your 6 servings of carbs or your 15 gms of sugar every day if you don't want to. Just make sure you get enough fiber so you can go #2.

A lot of people do use Coconut oil, but I am not one of them. When I read the label and saw how many calories are in a tiny bit - I said no thanks. It's also very expensive. I usually use the butter I have posted on My Fave Products page when baking or whatever.

Here's what I ate yesterday;
Breakfast was, Quinoa made w/ a bit of onion, zucchini, sausage crumbles, 2 scrambled eggs and avocado all mixed together in a bowl. 
Lunch was 2 small cauliflower crust pizzas w/mozzerella cheese and turkey pepperoni, and seeds of change pasta sauce.
After lunch 3 gingerbread cookies for desert.

dinner; was a spinach salad w/some shredded cauliflower, shredded beef, cheese, a spoonful of fage yogurt and some salsa and then amazing green olives stuffed with jalapenos (cut up). Good salad.

Desert; decaf tea and 3 more cookies.

    Pizza is so good! It's funny that that's one food/meal, not matter what diet a person is on, that they figure out a way to still have it.

  2. Hi Rosy! I had to share the lunch I had today, with you. I got turkey patties (in the frozen section of Trader Joes) and the sliced smoked gouda cheese from TJ's, also. I melted the cheese on top of the patties had 2 of these cheese covered patties w/o bread. YUM! Im still full several hours later. :) Hope you're having a good weekend!

  3. Thanks for answering my questions. I read the "French girl" post and thought about the first few bites when I met some friends for lunch. It's so true. After the initial "ooh, ahh, mmm", it went from great to good. I tried to focus more on talking to my friends & enjoying their company instead of the food. So I ended up bringing 1/2 my lunch home.
    Then...I went grocery shopping...OMG! Can I afford to eat the BFC way??? I was NOT prepared for the prices. Loaf of bread:$4-$6, 1lb of coconut flour:$7, cereal:$4-$6, Seed of Change sauces:$7-$8. I freaked out & left. Can eating the BFC way be affordable? I really am freaked out.

  4. Dawn M, I know what you are saying, I thought that at first too. After awhile it is just like all the other staples that you buy, so it isn't really that bad.
    I know for me the question became, "can I afford not to?" I spend so much money eating out and I won't spend 7.00 on coconut flour? I kind of think you it would be good to go without treats in the beginning and add the coconut flour treats in later. Just my humble opinion. I went cold turkey, no sweets/treats for over 3 months. I was afraid it would be a slippery slope to the real thing.

  6. Rosey.. I'm on day 6. I went shopping with my Mom today..I haven't walked that much in a year..lol..anyways she wanted to go out for breakfast but I had already had mine planned so I asked her to wait until after I ate...she said that was fine so I ate my breakfast at home.Before I left I grabbed my little bag of walnuts in case I got the munchies later. Well we stayed out ALL day long. Lunch time came and she wanted to go eat and she said she wanted to go to Panda Express. I said that was fine and I ordered a small mushroom & chicken (I remember Jorge saying it was ok to eat that in one of his books with 2 spring rolls but I passed on the spring rolls) she ordered firecracker chicken which I know is VERY sweet. She kept trying to tell me.."Take a bite".."It's only a little bite"..I just kept saying "no thank you"... After lunch we went to Sams (Like Cosco) and they have all the little ladies at the ends of the isle with all the samples of food saying "Try this"..lol my mom was like "It's only a little bit honey".."No thank you!" I was thirsty at one point and she handed me her Fanta..."Here" she said.. "Nope" I said.."I'll get a water". As we walked around Sam's I was looking at all the food...showing her the labels. Then she said.. "I get it. Your eating like your a diabetic...very low sugar." I was like "Yes that's a way to look at it...because if I don't lose this weight I might just very well become one"... A little while later one of those ladies asked me if I wanted a small cup of hot chocolate. My Mom told her. "She can't she's a diabetic" lol...I know..it was wrong for her to lie...BUT..she GOT it... After 7 hours of shopping on our way home my Mom told me she was very proud of me.... =)
    1st day running the roads out on the town and I did it...not one cheater bite...no bad food...just BELLY GOOD FOOD... I have not felt deprived...a little hungry at times but I'm human I'm gonna get hungry.
    Thank you for posting (Blogging)... I always look forward to reading them and have went back and read most on the ones you have posted before... only a few more to go and I will have read them all.
    Oh...and I'm Kat..you have already posted my weight on your side there.. I have lost 5 pounds in 6 days.. SW 230, CW225 & Goal 175

  7. Congratulations Dawn M. and Kat! You both did fantastic!!! It really is all about how you look at food and your relationship to it.

    Kat,you are smart; those "little" bites all up,sometimes to the size of another meal. And you were perfectly right when you said that if you don't watch your sugars now, you very well may end up diabetic; so, why wait until then to make changes for good health? When you keep your eyes on the big picture, it makes it easier to say no when you need to.

  8. Rosalie, this is a good post. I think SO many people are used to watching calories or staying away from fats because we have had that FORCED into our heads since elementary school. It's hard to completely re-think our relationship with food. But once we do it is very freeing. Good job to all the new people! The first month is the hardest, but soon it will become a way of life for you.

    Since you're our guru for BFC, I wonder if you could clarify something? I see recipes with xylitol, erythritol, maltitol, stevia and truvia... they can be liquid and/or powder. What's the difference between them and can they be substituted for one another? Thanks for your help! Ru

  10. and thankyou from me as well...as part of changing my way of thinking about dieting, eating and losing weight, i slow cooked turkey drummers and whole 5 inch sweet potatoes w/packet of dried onion soup and chopped onion. for breakfast i had one drummer and one sweet potato-very satisfying w/s/c value of5/2 and 4 grams fiber to boot! yummy, easy way to start the day...

  11. Today is Sunday and yesterday after this post my computer's power cord took a dump. I ordered a new one but will have to wait for it to get here before I can post.

    Ru I have only used Xylitol and truvia to bake with but if you taste the batter with your finger tip - you can tell if it is sweet enough.

    Deborah - I hope you meant Yams and not sweet potatoes. Yams are low in sugar and sweet potatoes are too high. But that sounds so good.

    My hubby is operating on the cord as we speak to see if he can get it to work at least temporarily.

  12. annonyous-thankyou for your input. i checked jorge's values book prior to eating that wonderful sweet potato and as i was not eating any other sugar/carbs , i was ok w/it. sweet potato value=5s/24c/4f for one 5 inch sp, while yam value is 1s/42c/6f for one cup cubed...so it seems you need to eat less of sp to decrease s value or less of yam to exit the 3 carb value...things to ponder:)

    So happy to find your website and your yummy low-carb, sugar-free recipes! I just started BFC yesterday after my sister has been pushing me to do this with her for months (she lost weight on it and she loves this plan). I had lost 15 lbs on Atkins within a month, but that was in July and it has mostly come back, after I slipped up during the holidays :( I can't wait to try a plan that, unlike Atkins, includes bread and pasta and rice and potatoes. Your weight loss is such an inspiration, can't wait to see if BFC works for me, too :)

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
