Its Funny How Things Go....

Hello Everyone,

Hubby and I were talking yesterday about how things were for me when I first started the Belly Fat Cure. My whole mindset was way different than it is now. I was in denial big time.

I used to say things like - I could never do this forever. I would sit and hold my stomach every night complaining I was hungry. But I never cheated, just suffered. You see, I was used to eating what ever I wanted - whenever I wanted - as much as I wanted.

Then I had to teach my body that was not the way to go. So it was a bit difficult the first 2 months.

You know my sister Lisa, the one who is a nurse and used to live in Vegas and moved over here almost a year ago??? Man did she give me a hard time when I started the BFC.

We got into many a arguments cause she is a RN and thought she knew more. She kept telling me that this way of eating was not healthy. All the stuff was too fattening. Blah, Blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.

As I kept going, everyone started calling me the skinny sister instead of her. It was kind of funny cause I never thought that would be MY nick name. When we got to christmas time we were the same size a 10. So WEIRD!!! Now I am a size 8 and she is a 12. Funny how things go huh??

You know artificial sweeteners of any kind are very bad for you and not allowed on the BFC.

Here is some good info I found online about ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS and why they are so bad for you:

  1. They are chemicals or natural compounds that replace the sweetness of sugar, without all of the calories. But sometimes the label 'sugar-free' masks calories present in the food or drink. Of course you can always read the product's label, but believe it or not, there are a whole lot of people out there who think that sugar-free or fat-free means low-calorie. On top of that, there are some recent studies that have shown that artificial sweeteners can actually increase your appetite. And then there are sugar-free products with ingredients that can raise your blood sugar dramatically—like the white flour in sugar-free cookies. All in all, 'sugar-free' doesn't always mean 'diet-friendly'.
  2. Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal, NatraSweet, Canderel, Spoonfuls, DiabetiSweet) is a common chemical sweetener with possible side effects that sound like they're out of a horror movie. From hallucinations to seizures to brain tumors, it is hardly worth consuming for the sake of saved calories.
  3. Sucralose (Otherwise known as Splenda, my past-sweetener of choice), is scary. Recent research suggests that Splenda can enlarge both the liver and kidneys and shrink the thymus glands. Sucralosebreaks down into small amounts of dichlorofructose, which has not been tested adequately tested in humans. Splenda reportedly can cause skin rashes, panic, diarrhea, headaches, bladder issues, stomach pain, and those side effects don't even sum it up.

Think this sounds bad? Do some further research. Most artificial sweeteners on store shelves are accompanied by numerous side-effect stories. (Some recent studies suggest they cause cancer. Should something as serious as cancer really be overlooked?) Research also suggests that they actually cause overeating among consumers.

My thought is, if you are gonna do the BFC or whatever diet plan you are doing to try to get healthy and lose weight;
Do it right - Don't cheat - Do it 100% - Love yourself enough to believe that, YOU CAN DO IT!!!

If I can do this - than you can do this!!  Look at my before pictures, I am just like you.

Thanks for listening. Big Love to you all. Please leave lots of comments on here and all my friends blogs on the list below. We really need lots of support to do this!! And remember WWRD??

  3. Great info on the fake sugars, thank you for sharing. Your sis sounds like she just wanted to know more than you about diet/health, a lot of people are like that.

  4. Thanks for the info Rosalie. I heard someone ask Joy Bauer, who is a nutritionist on the Today show, about using Stevia as an alternative. She said that even though it comes from a plant, they chemical alter it to make it, and it should also be used sparingly. Have you heard any bad things about Stevia? If I heard correctly, I think she said it is best used in it's raw form. Anyway, I am in awe of what you have accomplished. I think something you said hit home with me today. Even though for the most past, aside from a few slips with carbs, I pretty much eat the foods I should, but as much as I want, whenever I want. I don't like that hunger feeling, and it surprised me to hear you say thay you had moments when you were real hungry. See,in that case, I would just eat something, like cheese or whatever. Even though it was OK on the BFC, I think I eat too much. Something for me to think about right? Have a great day. Hugs from me to you? PS should I start looking for a place for you to live???LOL!!!!

  5. My sweetner of choice is Truvia. I bought some Stevia packets at Trader Joe's. The consistancy is different. I don't use a lot daily, maybe 2 packets in my coffee.

I love the BFC way of life. It is something that I can live with. I remember being so hungry when I first started, mainly right before going to bed, but my body has seemed to adjust. I am sitting at about 12 pounds lost in about 6 weeks. Dawn in NM

  6. Your so right about the artificial sugars. I used to use Splenda all the time too. Hope I didn't do any permanent damage. Thanks for asking about my dog. I got x-rays done and he has congestive heart failure. So sad. We have him on heart medicine now and hopefully it will give us more time with him. I don't like to think about it too much.

  7. Your awesome! I totally agree with the artificial sweetener thing. Brain tumors increased drastically after aspartame was approved. I really like how you said love yourself, SO KEY! Great post.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
