My thoughts on The BFC.....

Good Morning to All,

OK so ask me how much I weigh today... Go ahead - ask me.... OK 151.5 lbs. It's not like I care that much anymore if I go down because of how close I am and how great I feel, but it's nice to see it when I still see the scale go down.

So I would like to talk about that latest menu of Jorge's. Everyone else is, so I thought I would chime in on my thoughts.

I don't agree with everything that Jorge says. I love the concept of a low sugar diet and that is how I lost all this weight. But the main reason - I think - of how I did manage to lose so much is by NOT eating carbs in the evening.

Also I don't care what he says - you CANNOT drink 2 glasses of wine every night and still lose weight!!! That is for people who are already at their goal weight, or for just once or twice a week - but definitely not every day.

I think some might get confused by the pick 3 deal. They might think its OK to eat pringles, wine and ice cream every night before bed. NOT! One of my BFC friends got confused and thought she could have 3/4 of a cup of Clemmys instead of picking 3 things. I told her that 1/2 cup of clemmy's is considered 2 servings of carbs and 3/4 c is not a good idea.

Also I think another reason I have been so successful is by eating a good healthy breakfast EVERY DAY!! I have found this is the most important meal and if you eat a good breakfast, than you will be less hungry and less likely to be tempted later on in the day.

So the 2 eggs w/cheese and coffee for breakfast thing I don't agree with. You need something else with it to satisfy you.

These are just my opinions only because I have lost over 86lbs by doing this.

Yesterday Kay was asking how I stay so up all the time on the BFC when it is obviously so hard sometimes??

I absolutely just love that at the age of 52 I was able to do this without prior dieting experience. I always ate what ever the Hell I wanted anytime.

In the beginning, I thought I could never do this forever. I want to eat my chili cheese fries and watermelon and a blizzard from dairy queen, all at the same time. LOL.

But after losing 86lbs - I have to tell you that I LOVE this way of eating. It is easy - most of the time, and I have found many healthy alternatives of eating that satisfy me. I realize NOW, that my weight goes up and down all the time and I don't worry about that 2 lb fluctuations anymore.

BTW, I am loving this coconut bread! I made some with 10 pks of truvia and 2 tbsp of unsweetened chocolate powder and I have been munching on it ever since. Yesterday I had 1 with a square of 85% chocolate melted on top and then for desert after dinner I had 2 with RediWhip on top. OOH YUM!

Well - thanks for listening to me as always. Big hugs to anyone that needs one. ( xxxx ) and don't forget to checkout my friends blogs on the list below.

This is PurpleRosy signing off.....

My thought for the day:

Walk in Gratitude

Each step taken in mindfulness can be a step taken in gratitude for your entire body and state of well-being.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  2. SO funny that you mention the wine. I really feel that one of the biggest reasons that I can't lose these last 20 lbs has a lot to do with the wine I drink. I think you are right on with that thought!
Hope you have a good day!!!

  3. I am in TOTAL agreement, Rosie, on your opinion about the 2 glasses of vino is too much. When I drink ANY alcohol, I can guarantee myself that the scale will go up...even if it's just 2 drinks.

  4. Great job Rosalie! 151 - wahoo!!! You are getting so close!!

I do think you are absolutely right in all that you had to say today, Rosalie. I think the alternate menus are a fun change of pace, but in order to be healthy you really shouldn't eat all that garbage all the time. I can definitely tell when I've been eating too much junk.

    Have a great day!

  5. I am and will always be so impressed with your determination and loyalty to the plan! You go girl.
I am sold on breakfast before I work out. If I don't get enough to eat, I really struggle. I have found lately that a PB&J sandwich thin is working really well. The protein in the PB must help.
Just remember we are all "watching" you! You have to stick with us!
I agree on the wine, I think he just says it so people will at least give it a try. Since I am not good about not eating really fattening "allowed" foods, I guess I am not one to talk:) I know it is allowed and I trust his judgement...maybe!

  6. Okay, I am going to try not eating carbs (which I presume you mean by grains, not veggies) in the evening and see what happens. I just cannot give up my glass of wine. It's not every evening but some evenings I really like to have it.
    Cheers!

  7. So can I start off by asking how much you weigh today???;)You make alot of great points and I agree with all of them. The wine is something I have not been willing to give up. You know it's as much a hobby for me as it is pleasure. My husband and some of our friends, love to go out, share new wines, talk about them etc. I have a trip to the wine country (Napa and Sonoma planned again for this year). I so love the tasting and the tours and I'll stop going on about it, but I love it. So I have been having my wine each night. I realize that it is impeding me, and I am willing to go slower in the weight loss, because I don't want to cut that out. But I realized if I am going to do that, then I might have to cut back in other ways, so I am trying to stay lower in the carb area to compensate. You my friend, are somewhat to be admired. You have this all figured out and I appreciate that you always are there for us. Hugs to you!

  8. 151.5 that is awesome!!! Whoo Hooo!!! I agree with you I value the concept of lower sugar and better carbs but I don't agree with Jorge on everything or his approach...that is part of the reason I love the blog community, it allows me to see how people make the bfc work for them in real ways that are realistic for them. :)

  9. Great post Rosalie! CONGRATS ON THE 151!!!! Wooooohoooooo!!! That is awesome girl & you are almost there! I am so happy & excited for you!!!!I agree with the carbs at dinner thing too. Even though I am doing the WW plan, if I eat too much carb at night, I am always up a little the next day. Carbs hold on to water so I know its water weight but nonethe less, I think its wise to not do the carb thing at dinner. I am not always perfect but I have tapered my intake of carbs at dinner waaayyy back.
    Have a great day!!

  10. Wow! You are almost to where I want to be. I'm tempted to follow your food exactly for a week and see if I can do as well. I didn't lose this week, but I will keep going! By the way I was going to make the coconut bread this week, but that chocolate coconut bread sounds even more delicious! Maybe I'll try them both!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
