Well, I am glad to be home, but at the same time I am very worried about Dad. He looked pretty weak when I left. We don't know if he will last a week or 6 months. I am going to try to go back every 1 or 2 weeks until he passes.
I faced some challenges when I was gone. It is so hard to get other people who are not dieting to understand where I am coming from. I can't tell you how many times in the 5 days I heard, Oh 1 won't hurt you. Or - just this 1 time won't hurt.
When I got to the Hospice where my dad was, they had a kitchen and the nice people had coffee and fresh cookies every day. How Nice Huh? So I started talking to the cook when I was getting come coffee and he said - Oh there is some cookies for you. Of course I told him about the BFC and how I lost 66 lbs so far. He said how proud of me he was and then proceeded to say - Oh just one won't kill you.
Of course I didn't.
One afternoon at the hospice we went over to Taco Bell for lunch. As you know, Jorge says its OK. So I got 2 crunchy tacos w/sour cream and 1 without. I ate 2 and 1/2. They sat in my stomach like a rock. Tonight, hubby and I went to Dennys. We had the nacho salad. It's like a taco salad but with crunchy tortillas. I ate it but not the shells or the carrots. I picked them out. It also sat in my stomach like a rock after. I have come to the conclusion it must be the sour cream. Weird Huh?
Last night Step-mom made us dinner. Very nice of her huh? She made meatloaf and put catsup in it and on top. I said "I can't eat that. She said just this once won't kill you. So I had to count all my sugars for the day and said " OK I'll have 1 piece. she mad some potatoes and I passed and some veggies w/broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I picked out the carrots and it tasted like sugar in the broccoli and cauliflower from cooking it w/ the carrots. I felt like I was gonna gain 2 lbs from that little bit of a meal. I just drank lots of water after.
My whole point is - It's funny how your taste buds change from going with sugar for so long. Everything tastes like a spoon full of sugar.

Glad you made it back safe. And great job on passing up all that bad stuff. I dont understand why people has to say that to us.....Oh only 1 isnt going to hurt! Well for some of us who has addictions to food only 1 can really hurt us. Hey I forgot to give you my weigh in for the week. 203 yipee
ReplyDeleteYeah for you, Rosalie. I can completely relate to whaT you're saying with people offering unhealthy snacks or meals.Last nite at 9pm, I'm waiting to pick my daughter up at her high school from band practice.A band booster parent offers me a mini sweet roll rolled in sugar. Yuck! Especially at 9pm. I declined the offer. He wouldn't give up. Finally, I told him I was diabetic. Then he backed off. I don't want to lie, but he wouldn't take no for an answer.well, whatever works, right? I figure I'm not hurting anyone.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! It seems food is that social thing we all tend to gather around. Then when we decide not to join in any longer, it's seems to come out of the wood work just to temp us! Great resistance. You are even doing great in the face of adversity, so that means you "ARE NOT" an emotional eater!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, down 2...yeah doing the happy dance!
