Friday of week 38: The Belly Fat Cure

Hello Team BFC Club,

I have been noticing lately a lot of discouragement. Quite a bunch of us are not having a great time on the BFC right now. We are faced with people trying to get us to fail. Trying to get us to go off track and cheat. I read Jaimie's post this morning and all I can say is - I can totally relate.

My weight has gone back up to 173.5 - thats 1.5 lbs heavier than I was last Monday. I know, I know it's nothing really. But just for 1 second, way in the back on my mind, I hear that little voice saying - " whats the use"? That's the little devil voice. You just have to ignore it and all those other people that try to get me to cheat.

I did notice 1 thing while I was at my Dad's. While I was at his house, I was using his Benifiber in my morning coffee instead of the Clear Metamucil like I usually take. I noticed that I was having better BM's over there. I am thinking it might have been the Benifiber.Since I have been home for 1 1/2 days, it has not been easy in that area at all. I am going to WalMart today and I am going to buy some and try.

There is not much else I can do in my diet to change anything. I don't really eat that much in a day. I always go way under my 15/6. I drink lots of water and eat healthy and walk as many days as I can. I am just gonna hope it is the fiber issue or maybe my hormones ( I am 51 almost 52).

Don't get me wrong, I am never gonna give up. Even if I never get any smaller than this, I will be so happy. I feel skinny and so much better about myself. But I really want to get to my goal of 150 lbs.

Please don't give up! We really need to stay together. Continue to write your blogs every day and read everyone else's blogs and comment on them. That way they won't feel so alone in this. It's very sad when we write and no one comments.

  1. Yes, I've been using the benefiber clear, couldn't find the metamucil clear you recommended..and the garden of life..when I use both, I can usually go every other day..OI VAY!! I'm still here, not loosing, but not gaining, and I'm virtually carb/grain free now..not sure why. I'm off exercising for a week due to shots in my legs for my varicose veins..we shall see how this week goes :) I love your blog and read it daily!!!! you inspire me, glad to hear you say you're skinny. hang in there! I am. I had a weak thought today, thought, I can slowly start eating more carbs..but then I slapped myself :)

  2. Hi...i've been reading your blog and it looks like you and i started around the same time. You've lost way more than i have, but everyone is different. You are doing great and i know you will continue on this journey of being "skinny". A month ago i started the benefiber and have noticed a faster weight loss. Thanks for this blog, support is always good!!

    I felt sad when I read Jaime's blog. I don't know how many times things happen in our lives, stress levels go up, we have not only have a bad day, but once in awhile bad weeks! It's so easy to throw in the towel because we lose sight of our healthy goals for ourselves! We try to take care of everybody else, and we are always sacrificing our own needs. Everyday I'm going to wake up and remember my goal, and this time I'm going to do make it, even if I get cranky! Rosalie, you need to look into leading a group of over weight women in your home town!

    Thank you so much for encouraging me and everyone else. I lost 2 pounds finally. I have been stuck for a very long time and the numbers finally budged :)
    How often and how much Benefiber or Metamucil do you take ? I have been having a tough time in that department and I hate resorting to a pill. So, any advice is appreciated..

  6. Hi Girls, I usually use the metamucil in the morning in my coffee 1 time and then in the afternoon between lunch and dinner I use the super seed with water. That usually does the trick - but I am gonna start using the benifiber in the morning and see if I get better results. They are both made with different ingredients. :-)

  7. Rosalie, I think it is normal that we go through periods of being down. But I guess we need to learn not to go back to our bad eating habits. I have noticed a few bloggers have disappeared and i am sad. So I feel the rest of us really need to support each other. We can do this!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
