We are officially in...

Hello Everyone,

It has been a very tiring and  hard past couple of days. Still got a long way to go though. We got everything moved over here to the new house Sunday with the help of Hubby's brother Kimmet and Monday with the help of his friend from the FD Ryan. They helped with all the big stuff - other than that it was just Hubby and I. Saturday I went over there early and cut the grass, and boy was that a lot. It felt like 3 hours but when Hubby got there he said it was only like 1. He did the weed-eating and blowing and now it looks great. The grass was dead before because the owner stopped watering - but now it is getting green again. I told him I seriously don't think we can do that every week - too much work. We will see.
See all that grass - right, left, top, bottom - but its starting to look good now.

Last night (Monday) was our first official night sleeping here. We did not have the time or energy to hang curtains so lots of light coming in. It is very quiet over here compared to where we are used to living. The dogs love it and feel like they are wandering thru a forest or something in the back yard.

I am very concerned about 2 things though. Well actually 3 - we have a long list of stuff for hubby to fix - it was a Short-sale after all and that means AS-IS. We are working on that list slowly.

2- is I found out from our insurance guy that the house had 2 water damage claims in 2012 and they canceled our insurance so we are trying to find another one. She totally lied on the disclosures (the owner) about that and we should have been told in advance. It looks like it was repaired but out insur. guy says claims like that so close together stay on the house's record for 3 years. SHEESH

3- is I have been told by MANY-many people that there are LOTS of Coyotes in this area and they even come into your yard and jump right over the fence and get your dogs. I am very scared about that for my furry girls. One is 30 lbs and the other is 60 lbs so I don't think they will try to eat them but you never know. I have to make sure they don't go out in the back yard without me when it starts to get dark.

Yesterday I left the slider open so they could go in and out and for the second time a bird flew right into the house. The first time That happened while we were painting. I was in the Master bedroom putting stuff away and I heard the dogs barking - went in the kitchen and Mandy was trying to jump on the counter to get the bird. LOL I caught in a towel and let it out the door. It is very Rural over here being so close to the mountains.

Well Hubby has to work nights for the next 4 days or so. I just got TV and internet so at least I can watch TV tonight. I will try to muster up the energy to take the furry girls for a walk later. In the morning I have to go to the old house and clean the bathrooms, vacuum, mop and steam clean the carpets. Not looking forward to that.

That's it for now - Have a nice day.

  2. Glad you are in! Too bad about the water damage, but hopefully it's all fixed. I seriously think Insurance companies will use anything to not insure. We had a hard time getting home owners insurance because we have a flat roof....whatever. Is there someone you can call to make sure the damage was fixed? As for Coyotes, I live off of PCH at the beach and we still get coyotes down here! I guess you will have to get a screen door and not let the babies out unless you are there. Enjoy your new home!

  3. I am so happy that you are finally in the new house. I love the photos. I have a question about the large double gate on the side of the house to the left of the garage. Why such a large gate. Can you pull your cars back there? Just curious as it looks the size of those driveway gates. I would worry about the coyotes too. My dad said in his backyard the hawks come swooping down and he was worried about his dog. Of course it's a chihuhua so that is pretty small. Sorry to hear about the water problem. I would think the homeowner would have some liability since she lied about it. But look at the bright side, you have a beautiful new home and you are happy to be out of the other place. Things always seem to work out!! XO!!

    1. Oh yeah - there is a big concrete slab behind those gates for an RV I guess. We plan on parking in the garage as soon as we clean up all the boxes.
And I saw a hawk today fly by today when Hubby and I were in the back organizing stuff in our shed. I said What was that? It swooped by high in the sky. really cool.

  4. I was just folding laundry and I was thinking of you and how hard you are working, and I had to stop and comment again. You said you have to go over to the other house tomorrow to clean and do the carpets. If they are keeping your security deposit, which is for damages and such, why do you have to knock yourself out cleaning carpets? I would do a basic cleaning, but that's it. Save yourself the trouble of the carpet cleaning and just vacuum. Just a thought! You need some rest!!

  6. What a beautiful home!!! Did you sleep last night?
I agree with Pattie, if they are keeping your money anyway???
I don't know about the coyotes, I mean you should be careful, but maybe not scared. With 2 dogs, they'd have to be pretty hungry? I don't know, I know they like cats better than dogs around here.
I think you should rest a day or two and take in the new home:)

  8. I am SO happy for you! I really hope you take some time to just relax and enjoy your new home. You SO deserve it.

I agree with Patti and Kay. Clean your old place but don't feel the need to steam clean the carpets. I'm sure as much of a clean-freak as you are, the carpets probably look better than most people's do everyday. :)

Your new home is beautiful! I hope restful nights are coming your way.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
