I'm Not Dieting - I've Changed My Lifestyle

My thoughts Today...

HI Friends,

You know I have been eating like this for over 3 years now. Boy if you knew me before... I ate anything I wanted and as much as I wanted and never let anyone tell me not to. My favorites were of course - Chili-Cheese-Fries with catsup on top and then a blizzard for desert. I would eat a bowl of frosted flakes late at night to satisfy my sweet tooth many times.

I really thought that at my age of 50 nothing would ever help me to lose weight so what-ever!! Once I found the Belly Fat Cure book via my hubby, it actually made sense to me. It sounded like I could eat regular but healthy regular foods.

I realized that the weight loss thing was only ALL in my HEAD!! And it was!!

I learned how to read labels and how there is so much sugar in EVERYTHING and how unhealthy it is and how it was making me FAT!!  The original Belly Fat Cure Book sounded like something I actually COULD do. It was easy to do. All I had to do was figure out the S/C or Sugar/Carb count in all my foods. No counting Calories!! No deducting this from that..

I think if you are trying to do something that is too difficult to lose weight - then it will get very hard and tiring - VERY FAST.. For ME I eat the way I KNOW I can for the rest of my life. I just eat healthy now - THAT'S IT...

I am not an exercise freak - I just walk every day with my dogs and love it. I am lucky that I live in southern California and can do that daily.

I don't believe that going Grain-Free (the latest FAD) is gonna help ME lose any weight faster or make me any healthier than I am now by eating The BFC way.  I don't think a slice or 2  of my healthy bread a few times a week is gonna kill me at ALL! Wheat is not the problem for this unhealthy nation that we live in.

Its all the hidden sugar that everyone consumes on a daily basis in everyday foods that they are just not aware of. I sure wasn't. I didn't realize that is so much healthier to just make food myself as opposed to buying TV dinners or pre-made stuff or processed snacks and foods.

I love that through blogging the past 3 years I have found so many tips and recipes that fit into the BFC lifestyle that I now share with all of YOU!! I am honored to do it. I love to help anyone that wants the help to lose weight like I did.

So here's the problem with blogging. I think I am speaking for all of us that blog. It does get a little hard to keep doing it when you see around 300 clicks on your page but only 2 comments. I have a list of blogs on the right sidebar. Please go and support them and start leaving comments when they post and let them know they are not doing it in vain.
Here  is a cute picture of my Peaches for you. She always sleeps in the funniest places and thinks the bricks are a pillow. LOL

Thanks for listening and have a great day...

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Keep on BFC ' n :-)

  1. Well said my friend. It's always nice to see comments and know you are appreciated. I have to say I get excited just to see someone has visited my page. I am not at my goal, so I don't always feel anyone wants to hear what I have to say. You have made it to the land of healthy, goal weight. You know my struggles, and you are right, some times my head just isn't where it should be. But I always feel that I am moving in the right direction and on days like today, when you post a great recipe, and I actually had the ingredients and the time to make it...AND it was delicous and healthy for me, it just makes my day. So from me to you hugs and a GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!! XO

  2. What a great post! How do you see how many people visit your blog? I do know that I love comments too, and I wonder if anyone ever reads what I am thinking? I guess years down the road I can go back and see what I was thinking.

  3. I am so happy that you blog Rosalie. I LOVE reading about your experience and hearing about your thoughts. And you are 100% right - sugar is the culprit (darn, stinkin' sugar)! Since I have been limiting mine I am the ONLY person in my family who did not get this upper respitory thingy going around (knock on wood)! And (from what I leanrned through the BFC (and you) this week I'm limiting my fruit to just 1 piece a day. I know it's still a little more sugar than we're allowed but it's better than the 2-3 pieces I've been having. Thanks for posting!

  4. Rosalie - I look forward to your (and other) blogs every day. Even though I don't follow BFC (yet, I get lots of ideas for eating lower carb and definitely lower sugar.

Thanks for taking the time to blog and keep motivating others.

  10. I couldn't have made it through the past 6 months without your blog and your comments on mine. I learn so much from your blog and especially love your recipes. I also agree that people can do very well with losing weight while still eating grains, like you and Amber and Dawn have done. I notice that, aside from sprouted wheat bread, you don't really eat that many grains. What grains do you try to avoid or try to include? Sometimes its hard to know what to tell people when they're making dinner for me. For instance, my family seems to love pasta so they are always making meals with pasta as the central ingredient. It's hard to say, "I only eat whole wheat pasta" because it seems like they might take it personally. So it's just been more simple to say, "I don't eat grains" then they just give me the protein and veg and don't worry about figuring out the right kind of grains for me. Or if they are ordering out pizza, they just know to order me a salad only or make something special for me like a frittata. Any advice on how to explain it to people without being too detailed?

  11. Dear Rosalie,

I have to say that I am guilty of this. I read your blog everyday, but do not often enough leave you a comment, thought, or thank you for the invaluable information you provide in your blogs. I apologize for that and will make every effort to comment in the future.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
