The New Normal...

Good Sunday Morning to you all,

I don't but I know many people make these New Years Resolutions and then wind up failing soon after. Well this is a new year and a chance for you to start taking care of YOU!! A chance to start eating healthy and lose the weight that you have always wanted to do.

So you have tried many things in the past? Even lost some weight and then gained it back as soon as you start to eat normal again?

OK - so here is the scary realization part that we must all face.......We can NEVER eat the way we used to again! EVER!! Remember that and you will do fine. This is the New Normal...

You must be; Consistent - Strict - and STRONG...Be Strong no matter what others put in your face. You CAN Do It!!

On Friday I decided to limit the carbs since I ate so much the day before on my Birthday, but for me that is not a good idea.
Even though it looks like plenty of food, I think I need a carb at breakfast. I went for a 2 mile walk with the dogs around 10 ish and half way thru I felt very shaky inside maybe because of my E.T.'s

For lunch I made this delicious different pizza. Recipe here: http://purplerosy.blogspot.com/p/pizza-recipes.html
This was my dinner Friday, some broccoli, brussel sprouts, and some appetizer thingys we got at Sams Club. Bacon wrapped chicken, shrimps and beef.

My breakfast yesterday (Saturday) was 2 Oasis toast, eggs, avocado and berries.
I went to Pasadena to pick up Maria and we went to the early 11:40 am show of Le Miserables. We both had 2 slices of turkey lunchmeat and 2 cheeses I put in baggies for us and popcorn and I had water and she had a diet coke. We both loved the movie and Hugh Jackman was great!!

We were at the Santa Anita mall and walked around for a while after cause it was only 2:45 when we got out. I bought these cute Betsey Johnson slippers at Macy's for only $13 plus tax and she got a necklace.
So we were on our way out to the car and walked out the door and I turned left down the sidewalk towards the car and for some reason she just kept going and fell off this HUGH curb flat on her face in the street of the parking structure!!! All these wonderful people came rushing over to help us. It looked really bad but was not as bad as it looked and she just wanted to go to the car. She said her knee hurt but that she was OK. Thank goodness we didn't need to go to the hospital.

I took her home and she gave me a few of her homemade tamales for me to eat today - maybe lunch?

I got home after 5pm then hubby got home at 7pm. I ate some broccoli and wings for my dinner.

My breakfast this morning was Chocolate-Protein-Oatmeal-pancakes.
1/4c of rolled oats I let soak in 1/4c of unsweetened almond milk for a few minutes, 1 tb of peanut butter, 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder, and 2 eggs.

I used my small frying pan sprayed it with coconut oil spray and cooked one at a time - it made 2.
They have a different texture then regular pancakes but were good I ate them cut in quarters like a pizza with some Natures Hollow preserves on top.

We have a couple newbies on here; Val and Rosalie (same name as me). they both need our support to help them reach their goal.
And Rosalie no I am not Portugese, My mom was American and my Dad was from Poland - both Jewish.

Well I hope you all have a nice rest of the weekend or whatever is left of it.

Thanks for listening. This is PurpleRosy signing off...

  1. I totally agree with you on the New Normal. There are definitely times I think about what it would be like to go back to moderation only. Then I realize I haven't really missed anything so why would I? I truly believe we can do this forever, and that feels good!

  2. Hey Rosalie
I was reading your recipe for the cheesecake muffins. What type of liquid xylitol do you buy?? Does it give you gas?? Sorry to be so blunt & its probably TMI but I cant handle mallitol at all. It makes my tummy miserable and if this does the same thing as mallitol I wont buy it. Please let me know.
    Thanks a bunch!

  3. Glad Maria is okay. I'm sure her pride was hurt more than she was/ Anyhow, I agree with not going back to my old way of eating. I sometimes give myself a day to eat something I want, but my tummy always hurts....It does seem to make me lose faster after the cheat, though. I got my cousin started on the BFC and she said (on day 2) that her tummy was already feeling flatter. We'll see how she does :)

I love your posts with pictures and directions to make your meals; they're so helpful! Your blog has helped me get back on track and I'm happy to ask you to modify my weight from 230 to 222! I've been away for a while, but I'm back :-) Ru

  6. I am excited to get started ! I have done Atkins in the past, so I'm okay with veggies and proteins, but I'm not sure how hard it will be to find some of those yummy sounding "breads".. do you find those in regular grocery stores or do you have to go to the health food stores?
    thanks,
    Rose (Rosalie)

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
