I'm Not Dieting - I've Changed My Lifestyle

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Hi Folks,

First I wanted to show you what I came out to when I got out of the shower this morning. Peaches took over my spot this time. LOL
I guess I have been spending entirely way too much time alone and it was starting to get to me yesterday. Hubby has been working a lot of OT because one of the other Captains is out for a while and that leaves me and the furry girls alone most of the time. When he works nights, he comes home at 7am and goes to sleep for a while. When he works days, he comes home tired and grouchy at 7pm and then usually goes to bed early. So we can't win.

My food yesterday
So I tried to keep busy, I changed the sheets on our bed, vacuumed and mopped the house, did 4 loads of laundry, ironed a bunch of Hubby's shirts, then started cleaning out the closet in the extra room. I have all our sweaters and jackets and stuff in there cause the house is so tiny, but I don't know if I told you or not but Maria (my step-mom)  is coming to live with us in a few weeks. I promised my dad before he died that she would never be alone and I would always look out for her. Well now is that time. It will be very squishy here but its just until we get our new house (where-ever that will be), then there will be plenty of room.

Lunch; tuna, 1/2 cucumber and 1/2 avocado cut up, mayo, bacon bits cheese and onion crunch.
Then hubby came home at 1:30 with some junk food so I had a couple of his fried zucchini dipped in ranch.

The furry girls and I went for a 1 mile walk. Still a bit brisk over here but a very nice day.

Dinner was broccoli and steamed baby spinach with a tiny bit of salad dressing.
And some of those Hourdervey thingys we got at Sams Club.
For some reason I felt like I was going stir crazy in the afternoon actually before our walk at 3pm. So here's where being alone got to me - that and I have been on my monthly the past 2 days. I ate a little bit of Clemmy's ice cream for desert but then I also ate 2 squares of 86% dark chocolate with some of my home-made peanut butter on top. I should have only ate one or the other but the alone-ness was REALLY getting to me.  I couldn't sleep that well either last night.

He has today off - the only one in a while so I made him some breakfast and he is taking a little nap after working the night shift and we plan on going to the movies today. That's what he wants to do and doesn't cost that much money because we are trying to be thrifty for saving for the new house.

Even though it appears that I ate really well all day yesterday, I feel like I failed at desert. I don't have a problem with not having snacks but I am starting to realize that I am having a problem with the daily sweets. That is why it is so great that we blog and share our BFC friendly recipes here.  WHEW!! OK- now I don't feel so bad.

Thanks for listening and have a great day.

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. me and ou both. I love sweets. I dont remember ever saying "omygosh i want chips, salty fries"...etc. I dont crave chips i crave ice cream, muffins, lattes etc. I have a huge sweet tooth that i have a very hard time controlling.

    Hope you feel better today!

  2. I have been doing some bad things too regarding sweets. At least yours are BFC friendly. Now that my son is home from college, there is alot of temptation. I can't blame him though. Only I can control what I put in my mouth. Still I just realized I'm getting those sugar cravings again. It doesn't take long. I'm really trying to stay away from all sweets until I get it back under control. Have a good time at the movies. Is Maria coming to live with you permanently or just for a short period? You are a good daughter in law! XO

  3. Wow! You are a very good to have Maria move in! Will it help you feel better too? I mean obviously it will help her, so if it helps you both...it is a win/win!!!
It is funny how we are all so different in our food triggers. I really don't care about sweets, but give me salt...yummy!
I only bought Clemmy's twice I think. I even had one of the ice cream o's that I finally threw out because it had been in the freezer so long. I guess I am lucky that way at least.
Have fun at the movies...what's been your favorite movie lately?

  4. Maybe Maria moving in will make you less lonely. Hopefully you guys get along well and that you can be of support to each other. I have Clemmy's in my fridge, but I notice that even when I eat 1/2 cup, my stomach gurgles really loud! My husband ALWAYS comments that there is an alien in my stomach.LOL Have fun today and enjoy your time with your honey.

  5. I think the "approved" stuff is getting to me too. Eating too much made with almond flour, etc ... I've been thinking about getting really strict again and Dawn has inspired me. Starting Monday I'm back to tracking my carbs. Even though I don't eat any grains they still really add up ... man! You are a good daughter (and DIL). I hope the living arrangement works out well for you all :)

  6. If you feel like you did yourself wrong on dessert, you probably did. Go with your gut and get back on track! ;)

  7. I think the monthly thing plays a big role when it comes to cravings for me.
I'm thinking this BFC is weird because I've been doing it for 3 days now and I've loss 1 lbs.( thats good) and I eat fat ( bacon , sausage, eggs, cheese, avocados, nuts, ext.) it doesn't seem possible that you can eat these fats and loose weight. I'm loving it, It feels like I'm eating more food than before. Is this normal?

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
