Just a Quick Hello...

Hello Everyone,

Well today I woke up 5lbs up in my weight. This has not happened to me yet at this much. First time. I have been going thru a lot of crap the last couple of weeks and I guess that is it.

I don't sleep well and wake up looking like I was crying all night when I wasn't. I have just accepted that I am a walking zombie - that's it. I know some of you have mentioned to have my thyroid checked - I have that done every year its fine and that's not it.

Hubby and I have been talking about it and we both think it might be our bed. We both wake up with our shoulders hurting and toss and turn a lot. 3 years ago we spent a ton of money $3000 and got a memory foam mattress and I have a feeling that's it. I suggested we get some new expensive pillows and see if that might help, cause we can't afford to get a new bed now.

With our house situation - we have decided to not go thru with the Lease option for the house we are in, cause the loan is way higher than the market value and its not worth it. So we are gonna see if we can find another short sale or something much cheaper to move to. Well at least I'm not gonna wonder about that any more.

Sunday, hubby was working and I went to the movies by myself and skipped my lunch like I usually do and ate popcorn instead. I did sneak in some lunch meat wrapped around a cheese and ate it inside.

I got back home before 5 and took the dogs for our 2.5 mile walk like usual. But half way thru I could feel my tremors coming on and I started to get real shaky. I am thinking it was because I just ate the popcorn instead of real food.

No matter how I feel or what I am going through, I always make sure that I eat well and not anything bad or emotional eat. It took a long time to get to this point in my life. You know how sometimes we say to ourselves, " Awe - who cares what I eat or what I look like?" Well that's just not true. We have to learn to care about us - even if nobody else does. We are only hurting US - not THEM!!

Here's what I ate yesterday:
breakfast;
A flaxseed muffin w/natures hollow and turkey bacon and berries.

lunch;
tuna w/mayo, celery, green olives w/jalapenos inside, feta cheese, onion crumbles and bacon bits, 1/2 avocado.
Then I made my own peanut butter cups. LOL
and 1 sinful cinnamon cake that was left.

We went for our 2.7 mile walk.

came back and had a cheese and some nuts. I feel like I probably shouldn't have eaten this.

dinner; spinach salad and buffallo wings.

Today is my husband's 57th birthday and my grandson's 14th in Michigan too.

I hope everyone is doing better than me today. Remember that food is for nutrition and not to make us feel better.

Have a good one.

My thought for the day:

Mountain View

When we tire of well-worn ways, we seek for new. This restless craving in the souls of men spurs them to climb, and to seek the mountain view.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. I love a good tuna salad! And that really really makes we wish I could eat peanut butter - yummo. but I can't and it's just as well because it is a trigger food aside from being an allergy. Let us know what happens w/ your house!

  2. Thank you for sharing always! You seem to hit the same things I am struggling with too...I have been feeling overwhelmed the past couple of weeks and it helps to be reminded that we need to focus on taking good care of ourselves and making healthy food choices not going down the old path of eating to feel better no matter what we are going through. I actually have been skipping meals, which for me is a bad thing I think my metabolism gets worst when I do and I start plateauing or gaining.

  3. Have you tried the chewable melatonin that Carey had mentioned that she gets at Trader Joe's? I actually bought some and it really helps. I can sleep, but it is difficult to turn my mind off. I am sure that is why your weight is up. One of the keys to weight loss is a good nights sleep. Our mattress is 10 years old and still going strong, you should get more wear out of yours. Pillows are definitely an issue for me too, but I am too cheap to spend good money on one. I love the ones that they have at a Hotel that we go to, so I am going to get one the next time we go.
Dang weight!!! You will be down in no time.

  4. Kay mentioned the melatonin, but I have been having problems with it lately. I haven't slept, either and the vitamin guy at Sprouts said that the more melatonin we take (it's a hormone) the less our body produces. He said that you shouldn't take melatonin more than 4 nights a month so I stopped taking it. I'm not sure what my problem is with sleeping, but I haven't had much in the last month. I HATED my memory foam bed. We finally got rid of ours because it was making our bodies ache! I'm a very hot sleeper and memory foam is like butter, The hotter you sleep the more you sink in. Anyhow, I'm sure you didn't want to hear that after spending all that money, but my body feels better after getting a firmer mattress. As for the sleep, I'm just going to stop taking all sleep meds and wait for the stress to pass :) Good Luck with the house, and I'm sure the weight is just water weight.

  5. Ugh, not getting good sleep is horrible. Is your bed still under warranty? Maybe you would be able to get it replaced.

Good for you for not emotionally eating!

  6. I have a hard time sleeping to and I have heard that going through the change that this is one of the symptoms so maybe you should give the melatonin a try. I have been thinking about it. Hope things work out for you and finding a house.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
