Friday of week 41: The Belly Fat Cure

I feel great today! I can't believe that I finally hit the 70 lb mark. I weighed 168 today. I have been stuck on 169.5 for over 2 weeks now.
I have been thinking that I will just be stuck here and maybe I won't lose any more. (which would still be ok) I have felt that way many times since I started the Belly Fat Cure. If you look at my weight loss progress page, you will see many weeks with no loss at all or I even went up a little.
But, the main reason that I have done so well and have kept going down in my weight is, That I never stopped or quit!!! By doing so - I manage to keep going down, eventually.
At this later point in my weight loss, it seems to be going much slower. But that's OK. I am still determined to get to my goal of 150lbs. I am starting to think it might not happen by December 31'st. And if that is the case - that's OK too.

Look, sometimes we get discouraged or depressed when our weight doesn't go down at a steady pace. Don't feel that way. Our weight didn't go up all at once and it won't go down all at once either. It's gonna take time. Don't pay attention to what it says on the cover of the BFC book. You can lose 4-9lbs a week.

B.S. That's not gonna happen. Maybe only in the first 2-3 weeks, then not. OK? Got IT?
So don't be so hard on yourself.

Yesterday I ate:
breakfast; 2 eggs w/cheese omelet w/avocado on top, 2 strips of turkey bacon, 7 blackberries, 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 2 cups of coffee w/turvia, powdered coffee mate, cinnamon, benefiber, Barleans, Reslina, natural factors and my vitamins.
lunch; 2 veggie turkey patties stuffed into a sara lee wheat pita w/cheese and mustard.
snack; super seed w/ water
dinner; broccoli and cauliflower, and 2 squares of Lindt 85% chocolate.

I know that doesn't sound like much to some people. I have learned to curb my eating and not emotional eat. I now eat as much as I need - not want. Your emotions and food are 2 separate things. Just because you feel bad, doesn't mean that you have to eat!!!

Well thanks for listening. Much love to all of my BFC friends. Please leave your comments.

My thought for the day:

The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  2. Your words of encouragement hit the nail on the head all the time!!! Everything you say in this blog is so true. I love the BS about 4-9 lb. weight loss, i think that's why a lot of women get so discouraged because of this. I've been doing this for 9 months and have NEVER seen a 4 lb. loss, not even in the beginning! That's the only thing that irks me about Jorge, other than that this way works but it's slow and healthy!! Like yesterday, i weighed in at 167.6, up .7 lbs from last week, so i weighed myself today and i'm at 166.7, down .9 lbs. so ya just can't get discouraged, it's crazy what our bodies do to us!!
Congratulations on a 70 lb. weight loss, what an accomplishment!!! You are an inspiration...Oh, and what kind of jeans do you have on, they look like they fit real well, you look great in them, i always have a heck of a time finding jeans, i haven't bought new ones yet....

  3. Well Rosalie..this is what I needed to hear today! Thank you for posting this inspiring message. I got on the scale this morning and to my dismay after one week of being PERFECTLY GOOD on the BFC, only down 1.5#. I feel I have made good choices & it is not refelcting in the scale. Earlier in the week the scale said I was down 3# so I had hoped for a better number. But we are women, we have hormones that fluctuate and my weight can go up or down 2# on any given day. I just feel so discouraged. I want to be in the 190s so badly and it is less than 10# away! What is wrong with me that this weight wont release from my body? grrrr!! I am still plugging here. Cant tell you ladies how much I appreciate your blogs and the messages you send. Thank you!!! Sherri

  5. Great post Rosalie. Plateau's are major difficult to go through. Congrats on losing that stubborn 1.5lb. and to Anonymous also! 1.5lb. is very good and healthy per week... I think that mention on the cover of the BFC of 4-9lb. a week is for men...their body's lose weight much more fast. At least the men folk in my neck of the woods can. Have a great week ladies...I'm flying to S.D. Cali for my vacation next week.

  8. Congrats on the 70lbs weight loss. That is so awesome. I agree about the whole weight loss thing. It goes up and down. I have never seen a big weight loss like his book says either.

  9. Congrats, Rosalie! I've been at a no loss recently. I'm at those last few pounds to lose as well so I'm sure that's part of it. I was exercising a lot for a few weeks, but that was for a specific goal, which I was successful in reaching, but once I met that goal I got sick and couldn't exercise for a couple of weeks. I'm trying to get myself back into a good routine of exercising so I hope that will help kick things back into gear. Like you said, I don't know if I'll make my goal but I'm okay with that. I can only do the best I can with my eating and getting my exercise back into place and see where that gets me.

Hang in there, Sherri! You'll get there!!!

    Congratulations on your losses everyone!

  10. I wanted to let everyone know that I decided to start a public blog to help support those who would like to do the BFC, but are gluten free. If you're curious about this seemingly sudden change with my diet, you can read about it on my blog. I hope you will join me there. You can still pick up ideas, inspiration, and support, even if you are not gluten free yourself. Thanks.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
