I'm Not Dieting - I've Changed My Lifestyle

Take the Reigns...

Hello Everyone,

The way I eat now has really become a lifestyle for me. But it is not without its trials. I know you all think it is so easy for me. I know some of you struggle to keep eating healthy and lose the weight.

I have to admit that it is a bit tricky sometimes. I kind of have to be like a horse with those blinders on so they can only see forward. I have always felt that way the whole time I was losing weight and still now. There are always so many obstacles that get in the way if you let it.

You MUST focus on YOU and YOU only! You can only do this because you want to be healthy for you, not for anyone else. Others will do everything in their power to make sure you fail. They will say " OH just this one time", Or "One meal wont' kill you", or "Its a special occasion".

Trust me on this one... After eating this way for almost 4 and 1/2 years, you can't give in to them.

For instance: My Hubby who loves me and is so proud of me - does lost of things to put obstacles in my way. I'm sure he doesn't think he does - but he does.

I LOVE to take my walks every day with my dogs. I invite him but he just doesn't want to. I Really LOVE this part of my day. It makes me feel so good to be outside and explore around my new area down the trails. Lately it has been over 2 miles each day.

Friday we went to happy our after work and I got home late and still went for a just under 1 mile walk with my furry kids.
Saturday I did stuff around the house, then we went to go see that Johnny Depp new movie, then to his Mom's house for a family dinner - so got home real late (no walk).
Sunday I wanted to he wanted to go run some errands and we got home after 7pm. I was SO MAD at him because I wanted to do MY stuff and I ran out of time.

No walk for me - I cried...no dinner for me cause it was too late... I wanted to make a batch of chocolate chip cream cheese cookies and chose to do that for the rest of the night instead. Yup - I cried because he was selfish and didn't care what I wanted to do.

I try to explain that I need to do this stuff. FOR ME! Make my sweet snacks on the weekend (so I can have a healthy sweet every day and never be tempted), and make sure that I walk every day - so I can enjoy the beautiful weather that we get over here. I work now and never see it - but out the window.

The weekend is the only time that I have to clean and do stuff around here. So my point is...We have to do what WE want and what WE need to be healthy, and lose weight and KEEP the weight off.

I should have just gone by myself on Sunday morning like I always do every day after work, but he said this once he would go ----if I just waited until it got cooler. I should have made my cookies earlier in the day - but I was waiting for him because he said we were going somewhere. I should have just stayed home and done what I wanted. I felt that he took my joy away.

So today after work when I got home he said he would go. He actually did, but started to complain just a bit cause the first mile is up hill a bit. But then when I turned he started to love it as much as I do. Well maybe that is pushing it - like it anyway.

My whole point of all this BLAH-BLAH-BLAH is that we MUST take control of what is best for us - our bodies - our minds - all of it... Most of this is in our heads. I have said that since the beginning. If you can get past the fact that we just might not be eating like everyone else and that its OK that we aren't - that's half the battle. The rest is up to you and your will power and strength..

I eat the way I WANT - to please ME and no one else... Can YOU do that???? There is no reason that you can;t embrace this way of eating as your own too like I have - for LIFE... Not just a diet.

Love you ALL - thanks for listening and have a great day tomorrow.

  2. Hi Rosalie. Can you tell me if you have tried Maple Grove Farms sugar free pancake and waffle mix? I came across this item at Netrition.com it says it has o grams of sugar and 8 grams of carbs and 3 of fiber, I didn't see any sucralose, aspartame, or saccharin in the ingredients. Let me now what your thought are. Thanks and god bless you for all your words of encouragements.

    1. Well the pancake mix looks fine, but not the other stuff - it has sucralose in it. Just look at all the ingredients on stuff and make sure there is no bad stuff in it.
Just buy the healthy flours and make them yourself like I do. That way you know whats in it.

  4. You are one heck of a strong woman Rosalie!!!! What you have said has sure made an impression in my mind and I WILL keep it there. I learned a long time ago with my hubby that I had better go on and do what I want to do or I can forget it ever happening. He's a great guy, but he goes and does what he wants to do, so why shouldn't I? It's not always easy, but after 35 yrs. we have compromise pretty good. I think I mentioned before that he does not eat healthy except for the dinners I make, he is a heavy smoker and doesn't exercise much except mow the lawn. A long time ago he agreed to go for a walk with me. It was snowing, beautiful and peaceful. What does he do??? He stops on a corner and lights a cig!!!! That was the last time the old fart walked with me! haha Your willpower is amazing and sure does show us other gals that it can be done. Thank you so much!

  5. Hi Rosalie, I have another question for you. It made sound dum but am new at this I need all the help I can get. When eating out at a restaurant, and you ask for a salad, what salad dressings are best to get? I always ask for it on the side but was wondering which ones are best to stick with? Any suggestions.

  7. I've been following you since maybe 2011, not too sure. But you truly are an inspiration. I have my challenges and need to put the blinders on as I get distracted so easily. I'm determined to follow thru theis time with BFC. There are no shortcuts. If I lapse I will get back on cuz I really think this plan works.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
