Stop Sugar Cravings
There are two types of sugar cravings, psychological sugar cravings and metabolic sugar cravings. Biological sugar cravings are the result of the brain trying to tell you that the body is lacking something necessary in the bloodstream (in this case glucose. Psychological sugar cravings are related to, and similar to any other type of addiction. Both types of sugar cravings can be reduced if well understood.
Overcome a biological craving for sugar.
* Fruit - If your body is indeed craving sugar why not satisfy it with healthy natural food. Fruit contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants along with a natural source of sugar. A few berries like blueberries, raspberries, blackberries etc, will satisfy even the strongest sugar cravings.
* Soluble fiber - Adding soluble fiber to your diet will greatly increase the amount of time that sugars are absorbed by the intestines. You are less likely to get metabolic sugar craving between meals because sugar is being released constantly up until your next meal.
Every successful diet begins at the store. If you want to help eliminate your intake of sugar, go shopping when you are full. Buy from where fruits, vegetables, fresh meats and dairy products are located.
The psychological addiction to sugar is cured in the three ways.
2. Weening, where you gradually reduce the amount of sugar over time.
3. Replacement, replace your addiction with healthy alternative foods (nuts adding fiber and fruit). It is important to note that sugar is a necessary ingredient in our diets, so going cold turkey will have some unpleasant effects such as tiredness and mental confusion, because of this it is important to make sure to replace the lost sugar calories with a healthy alternative foods low in carbohydrates.

My thought for the day:
Mind Body Connection
Every passion, every emotion, has its effect upon the mind. Every change of mind, however slight, has its effect upon the body.

ReplyDeleteGood job hubby! Glad he's supportive of you and your lifestyle! :) I may take a picture with you on Sat (depends on my hair:). Hahaha! I just never take a good picture....or maybe it's that I"m way hotter in my head than I am on film. Can't wait to meet you in person, finally, even though we live so close!

Stopping sugar cravings is a huge first step on the BFC! Good job on the post Mr. Rosalie's husband!
ReplyDeleteTell your DH (Dear Hubby), he is right on. Today closes officially 21 days. I haven't been craving sugar per se, rather I've had a major ice cream jones...and I seldom ever do ice cream. I've been rather discouraged because at week one I lost 7#s, week two I gained 2#s, week three...nothing. Sigh. OH...and I made the pizza with the cauliflower crust today....AWEsome!!! Hubby enjoyed it too!!! ~melody in oregon~
