Tuesday of week 43: The Belly Fat Cure

Good Morning or Good day to you all - depending on what time it is where you are.

Like Minichick suggested yesterday: Anyone who is having any problems, or stuck, or any questions at all, please post them below and we will all do our best to help in any way we can. We are a group. We are the Sisterhood. We are Team BFC Club and we are all here to support each other. So don't feel bad if you messed up or are having a hard time sticking to it. Let us help!

Sherri really wants to try to do the conference call thing. So I suggest that we do it starting this Saturday when we can use our free minutes on our cell phones where ever we are. I will get the number from Sherri and post it with the time. She says it will be free, so tell as many as you can and post it on your blogs too.

Yesterday I was walking like I usually do. I walk with my dogs at first, it comes out to be about 1 & 1/2 miles when I zig zag in and out of all the little streets. Then I put them back at home and go by myself 2 more times without zigging and it comes out to be a total of 3 miles. By the 3rd time it starts to get dark. I usually walk in the street by myself so its easier. I thought I was stepping on a stick - then it jumped up and lunged at me. Yup, it was a snake! a big one! It was kind of funny. Scared me!

Yesterday I ate:
breakfast; We went to Mimis cafe and I had an omelet w/bacon, avocado, cheese, and 1/2 slice of rye bread with butter and coffee brought my own truvia in my purse.
lunch; I made a pizza w/ Sara Lee wheat pita, seed of change pasta sauce, cheese, turkey pepperoni, and some broccoli on the side.  then 1/2 cup of clemmys.
snack; super seed w/water
dinner; stir fry veggies, 1/2 zuchinni, onion, celery, baby bok choy, broccoli, 7 shrimps, tofu, shiritaki noodles, braggs, a touch of sesame oil, and some curry. 2 squares of Lindt 85% dark chocolate.

I have been thinking about thanksgiving. I know you are to. You are thinking, what can I eat just this one time that I'm not supposed to? Just eat what we know we can, like: turkey, veggies, maybe a touch of stuffing. Then do like I do and take 1 or 2 bites of your favorite thing that you are not supposed to. But don't do it if you can't stop after that 1 or 2 bites. Seriously! Don't do it if you can't stop.!! If you have a problem with seeing or smelling all the foods, just go walk away for a second. Have a glass of dark red wine. You can't go wrong with that.

Well thanks for listening. Love to all of my BFC friends. Please leave your comments.

My thought for the day:

Face the Sunshine

Face the Sunshine Positive QuoteKeep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow.

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. I won't be able to make the conference call due to the wedding I'm in this weekend, but I will try to make the next one. :) I like the idea. That omelet sounds yummy that you had at the little restaurant. Thanksgiving is going to be hard for me, I know I will probably have to try some bites of things I shouldn't have, BUT I am going to try to do my very best. I have to cook for everyone this year and its my first time so I will probably be to nervous to eat worried that it might turned out awful. ;)

  2. I basically plan on doing the same thing for the holidays. It worked great for me before, so I'm sticking with the same plan this year. I learned my lesson when I decided to have all that I wanted, which put me where I am now. That huge splurge sent me spiraling into a carbohydrate/sugar again. Now I know that I need to stick with my 2-3 bite rule for the holidays. That does work for me.

I'm SO GLAD you did not get bit by a poisonous snake.

Lindsay, plan ahead of time. Don't go into the holidays without a plan in your head. Decide now what things you absolutely MUST have and determine in your mind that you will have 2-3 bites of those foods. For me, it's pie and jellied cranberry sauce. This year though, I'm going to make myself the Healthy Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake that I mentioned before. That will help keep the sugar/carb lower, but I don't have a substitute for the jellied cranberry sauce yet. That's okay, I'm still going to have it. :) Regardless of Thanksgiving, I also have the goal of having a loss on my weigh-in day following Thanksgiving.

  3. minichick - is the recipe for the Healthy Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake on your blog? I plan on doing the same as you for Thanksgiving....load up on the turkey and veggies and only take 2-3 small bites of my favorites. The great thing about breaking the sugar addiction is that I've regained my self-control, so I KNOW that overeating won't be a problem!

Rosalie, I'll have to see what my schedule is like on Saturday regarding the conference call - but I like the idea!

  5. Hello.. I've been looking at recipes on the truvia website.. they have some baked goodies, some are better than others, they have the nutritional facts at the bottom of the recipes. I plan to take something "safe" I can enjoy for thanksgiving :)

  6. Hi Susan,

I can't remember if I mentioned it on my blog, or not. I know I've mentioned it elsewhere though. Here's the link so you can check it out. I can post it on my blog as well.

  7. I forgot to mention that I measure out the same amout of my Truvia in place of the erythritol and stevia that she calls for in most recipes because Truvia is a mix of erythritol and stevia.

  8. Hey Rosale!!
What is Resalina?? I have heard you mention it..just curious. I just read an article in First Magazine re: Vitamin D & losing weight. My trainer @ the gym also recommended me to take Vitamin D3 for weight loss. I have my bottle that I bought in the spring. Took my 5,000 IUs tonite!!!

  9. Reslina is Resveratrol and Spiulina and Muscadine grape seed extract. Has lots of anti-oxidants. It's good for many things. Google those ingredients and you will see. I've been taking it for 2 months and feel great!

  10. Great post! I think if I'd seen that snake I'd probably have pee'd in my pants!

I have no problem either not eating something or just taking 2-3 bites when we are at someone's house. I have a hard time when I've made it at home & it beckons me at midnight. Does anyone have any strategies to curb late night eating that work for you? I know I need to replace my late night eating habit with something else. Maybe I should just go to bed. :)

  12. Oh man, I'm so frustrating. I broke 250 for about 30 seconds and now I've been bouncing around 250-252 for almost 2 months. I've only had about 2 days where I've all out blown it, so I just don't get it. I started walking last week and walked M-F...was SURE I'd lose this week, but no, went up a pound!

Oh by the way Rosalie, I keep forgetting to ask, what is Super Seed?

  13. Hi Susannah,

Have you had a doctor check you, especially your thyroid? Aside from that, are you still having artificial sweeteners at all? Are you logging your food each day to make sure that you're not eating too many carb/sugar/fat? I know that fat is not something that we need to be worried about as much as the carbs/sugar, but if you're eating too much, that can cause a stall as well.

Are you drinking enough water? What about fiber? Are you counting your grams of fiber each day? Even though you are aiming to stay within the 6/15 count, are those counts primarily filled with healthy, whole foods, or are you still eating a lot of chips, store bought cookies, etc. Even if those foods are BFC friendly according to their counts, your body will still have a hard time functioning as well as it could if you are not getting fresh, whole foods. The counts from whole foods are much better for us because the nutrient content is much higher. Our body needs those necessary nutrients to do what it needs to do (it's daily functions and processes). So, look to see if you might actually be malnourished even if your counts are technically good.

Obviously, I’m not assuming any of this is true for you. I’m just taking a shot in the dark with the little information I have from your post. Let us know if any of this rings a bell for you. Maybe once we can pinpoint a more specific cause, we can start looking at possible solutions. Good luck!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
