Wednesday of week 31: The Belly Fat Cure

Hello Guys and Gals,

I received a message from, Lisa yesterday that I would like to address.

She was asking how I handled my sweet tooth cravings and did I have them?

Now come on people, how do you think I got to be 238 lbs? I always craved sweets and junk food. I couldn't imagine not eating all those things that I loved so much.
Some of My favorites:
Chili cheese fries
nachos with the works
ice cream: AKA Blizzards or what ever
pretty much all kind of sweets
Big hamburgers with the works
Well I could go on and on.

But when I decided to give the Belly Fat Cure a try, I decided to give it my all. After the 1rst couple of weeks, I cut out the carbs after 3pm. That is one of the main reasons I was so hungry every night and every morning I woke up starving. I decided to tell my self that I was not allowed any of those bad foods anymore. When I was hungry - I would say "you're not allowed, you're not allowed".

Eventually my body got used to the new way of eating. Now I eat 2 squares of Lindt 85% dark chocolate almost every day after dinner. If I want something sweet any other times, I just give myself a squirt of RediWhip in my mouth. RediWhip has 0/0 and only 15 calories a squirt and comes in chocolate too.

When I am away from home I have learned that I can control myself from food. Before maybe not. My old neighbors had big BBQ parties all the time. It was hard in the beginning of the BFC. I wasn't sure what I would eat or drink. First thing they tried to get me to do is drink one of those fruity alcohol drinks that  I loved so much. I said no - had to insist actually. They really wanted me to drink something with them so I had a shot of tequila. Then I saw some nachos and remembered 12 tortilla chips is 1 serving of carbs, so I took 12 and put some nacho cheese on top. They had a taco guy so I had him put some meat and salsa on top of some lettuce.
And last night I went to the Home Town Buffet.

I have this program on my Motorola Droid called, calorie counter. It tells you the nutritional value in all kinds of food and lots of restaurants are in there. It is very helpful when I am out and not sure what to eat.

If you are stuck, some things that might help:


How many carbs are u eating day? (if u are eating all 6 - cut back 1 or 2)
Watch out for the artificial sugars (sucralose & aspertime)
stop eating carbs after 3pm
be done eating by 7-7:30pm. (no more food just water)
Take walks in the evening
And last but not least; get lots of fiber so you can go # 2

  3. Awesome tips!! I will definitely try using those (although the no carbs after 3 is the hardest for me.) How do you do that? Just protein for dinner? No veggies or sides?

  5. Jaimie, I always have some kind of meat and veggies or salad or sometimes both. I know its hard to stop the carbs after 3. Just do it when your ready. :-)

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
