OH Sleep - How I miss thee...

Hello Friends,

Its been a while. I have been feeling bad by not blogging like I used to. I am hoping that many of you can relate to this:

I haven't been sleeping well or even at all for a while now. Hubby made me to to the Doctors. I kept telling him, WHY? They don't care and will only give me pills.

Well she gave me Ambien 5mg (generic) and told me to only take 1 cause 2 are bad. The first night I didn't sleep - not even 1 wink. It did nothing! And made me feel light headed and woozy.

Called the doctor and her nurse called me back and guess what she said?? Take 2... Seriously?

So the next night I tried that and slept for 4 hours and woke up. Called the Doctor back and she suggested Trazadone. I said NO! That's an Anti Depressant and I'm not taking that. She said there nothing else they can do. Like I said - they Don't CARE!
I tried a couple more nights then stopped.

Not only was I not sleeping and felt like crap but I also gained like 5 lbs. I actually feel better without them. 2 nights ago I drank some sleep tea (which I have tried every kind) and took a Unisom pill and I think I actually slept a little. Felt pretty good until I got to work. YISH!! Kind of stressful there - but I need the job - so I am stuck.

So the stress at work, the incredible HOT flashes I am getting all day and night, its a no wonder I can't sleep.

I am getting those couple lbs back off. Being careful of what I eat. Its not easy at work sometimes. Friday they had Pizza for someones birthday. So I took 2 pieces and ate off the toppings and just a couple bites of the crust and threw out the rest and ate some salad and a few bites of cake.

I realize how hard it is for some of you to find that RIGHT way of eating and losing weight. I got real lucky and am very grateful to Jorge's first Original Belly Fat Cure Book. I learned a lot from that and the Internet - which is a great tool.

If there is any advice I can give is to

NOT deprive yourself of all carbs. Learn which ones are the healthy ones and just eat less of them.

Eat 3 meals a day - no matter what.

Weigh yourself EVERY day - how else will you know what is working or not?

Eat at home more and make plenty of treats to have on hand so when you get an urge - you won't feel guilty.

DON'T count calories - that doesn't work!

And Lastly - NEVER GIVE UP!! That's all..

  2. Thank you for good advice for BFC. I understand the insomnia issue. I've had insomnia for years. I fall asleep but wake up in the middle of the night and often can't get back to sleep. Once in a while I have a night of only 1-2 hours of sleep but mostly get 3 or 4 hours. Sometimes I take ZZZquil to get more hours and it works for me. I also take a magnesium supplement called Natural Calm. It's an anti-stress drink that helps with sleep. I have better dreams when I drink it before bed.

    It's awful being while awake while the rest of the world is sleeping. I hope you keep searching for what will work for you so you can get some much needed sleep.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
