Give Your Taste Buds a Chance

Hello Friends,

I remember when I first started the BFC and eating healthy, a lot of stuff I was told to eat that was good for me, well I just didn't like it very much.

I remember tasting the 85-86% dark chocolate the first time. I never really was a dark chocolate fan. Just the fattening milk chocolate stuff for me, and Ooh yeah - with peanut butter or caramel inside of course.

The first time I bit i n it - I was like... Ummm - OK? Took another bite and still Uh - I don't know - weird. But because I paid for it and didn't want to throw it away, I kept trying a square every night and as each night passed - it tasted less and less Uhhh to me.

Now I love it, especially since I know milk chocolate is out of the question - FOR EVER!!

When I started to use coconut oil, I tried it to fry my eggs and in recipes. I was not a fan of it in the frying pan with the eggs. The taste was so different than the crap oil I had always used. But now I can't imagine eating eggs without using my coconut oil spray in the pan first.

Any time I make sweets, I am reminded by my Hubby that my taste buds are so different than him or everyone else. He rarely eats my sweets. He likes stuff MUCH sweeter then I do now. I guess he is not a sweet freak like me. But I remember before he was - so maybe its just the full-on stuff he likes and not my healthy ones.

I remember the first stevia brand I bought at Sprouts when I started this was SweetLeaf packets. I did not like them and thought it tasted like the pink packet. The I found Truvia which does taste more like sugar and used that for quite a while until I saw this online special about different stevia brands and how Truvia is just full of CRAP and very little stevia at all. So I did my research and now my favorite brand is...

SweetLeaf. Funny huh?

SO what I'm trying to say is - Give Your Taste Buds a Chance
This might be you at first - but eventually you will be like this...
That's all my thoughts for now. Have a great day.

This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Keep on BFC ' n  :-)

  1. This is so true Rosalie ! When I first started changing my choices I too had a difficult time with taste. Now, I am so used to it that it doesn't phase me one bit.

  2. You are so right about this. The first time I ate the 85% chocolate I had to spit it out, just couldn't do it - then I started trying much smaller bites and just keeping it on my tongue a little longer and enjoying it. Thanks for all the encouragement. It helps a lot.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
