I Wish I Knew...

Oh how I wish - I SO Wish I knew way back then what I know now........

I know I've said this before but I feel and look like such a different person now, and its not just the weight loss part. (which is AWESOME by the way)  Its how much my mentality has changed in regards to health and eating.

When would I ever think that Hubby and I could eat some sweet treats for breakfast like this and it be healthy for us??
 This is 1 of my scones and 1 cheesecake muffin I made yesterday. Both were so different and very good.

Below is a picture of the thumb on my left hand. It looks normal right? Well when I was 12 years old I smashed it in a car door. I cried for days and it swelled up and the nail turned purple and fell off. When it grew back, it only connected halfway up. EVER since I was 12 this was my UGLY nail. I would hide it cause moisture would get trapped under it all the time and it would turn a beautiful shade of Bright green!
 Since I have Changed my WHOLE life and eat healthy now, no more sugar or junk - it actually grew back together!!
SINCE I WAS 12 - Seriously!!

We went to lunch today at one of my new favorite places Boston Market. Of course the bowl on the right is mine - turkey, veggies and creamed spinach (I couldn't finish the spinach-he gave me a ton).
While we were there we were talking about how much I've changed.
How I would always tell him that I will eat whatever I want and not to tell me otherwise!
How my favorite food group was Chili-Cheese-Fries with catsup on top.
How I always thought that I NEEDED to eat a starchy Carb with every meal or I thought I would still be hungry.
How I didn't understand the difference in what I thought tasted good and what was Really good for me.

He said he was looking at old photos and how he never realized - well neither one of us realized how very BIG I was!!! How Swollen I looked!!! How Unhealthy I was!!!

I am SO GRATEFUL - that something in my brain snapped and I was able to get to where I am today... Because of this feeling I love to share with anyone and everyone I can of how I DID IT.

This blog is my journal of what has worked for me, and if you let me I can help you to get to where you want to be too.

You have to be willing to COMMIT. You have to be ready to do it for YOU!! Not anyone else!

Yup Thanksgiving is only days away. That should have nothing to do with your health. You can still go to Thanksgiving dinner with your loved ones and make healthy choices. This year will be my 3rd holiday on the BFC and I am SO ready, especially with all the healthy recipes I haven learned to make!

  2. I wish I knew earlier too! That's a lot of years I spent eating lots of sugar! I love to hear things like your thumb nail growing back together, it's such proof that this is a healthier way of eating.

  3. There are so many things that I feel better about since I cut the sugar. I think the most notable, and I hate to type it because then I will get sick, but....I have had 2 small colds in almost 2 years. I recently had laryngitis, and it turned into a cold and prior to that, last year around this time I had a cold. I have felt crappy, but not sick. I think it is amazing!
    I am very impressed by your HUGE success!!!

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
