I hope you all had an enjoyable 4th of July. Hubby had to work day shift today. I drove him to meet one of the guys he works with so they could drive in to work together and dropped him off at 5:15am then went back home. I expected to go to his mom's around 3pm and hang out with them until he got off work at 6pm. His work is not too far from his Mom's so he got a ride over there so we could drive home together.
But I got a text and call from my friend at 6:30am and she knew I would be alone and asked if I wanted to go with her and her husband to Santa Monica Pier. She insisted that I would not be intruding, so I fixed myself breakfast
some berries, 1/2 avocado, 2 eggs scrambled w/little onion, mushrooms, baby spinach, little turkey sausage crumbles and cheese. |
and got to her house by 9:30am and we drove in her car. We got there around 10:45 and boy was it crowded already.
We ate lunch at Bubba Gumps.
I had shrimp skewers w/broccoli instead of rice.
It looks like a lot but there was only 3 shrimp on each skewer and a ton of broccoli though which I shared. |
We walked around the pier and they ate ice cream and I did have 2 small bites of hers.
Geeze look at the bags under my eyes - I haven't slept for 2 nights straight.
I was crouching down so I wouldn't look so much taller than her. LOL |
We got back to her house in Chino by 2:30 and I went straight up to his mom's in Pasadena and got there by 3:15. A few people came over and we all had a nice visit and hubby got there around 6:15.
I ate 2 drumsticks with no sauce, a hot link, some greens and green beans and a bit of salad. An older Auntie made some peach cobbler and wanted me to have some but his mom kept saying that I don't eat that any more. I put 3 bites on a small plate and showed her and that made her happy. Boy - oh Boy was that 3 bites sweet.
We left there a little after 7 to try to get home as fast as we could. Had to try to keep the doggies calm, Mandy especially hates loud noises and gets real nervous.
I got lucky and didn't have to spend it alone after all. The beach was relaxing and fun and it was overcast and great to walk around. So that was my day - how was yours?
This is PurpleRosy signing off...

Glad you had a nice time and that you weren't alone. those kabobs look yummy. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day Rosalie. We were at the beach and went to my sister-in-laws house. Their beach house is about 10 or so blocks away. It was a nice day. So hot here though, and supposed to be hotter tomorrow. Love and hugs!!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteBubba Gumps looks great! Yum! It sounds like you had such a nice day. I'm glad. I spent the 4th hosting a backyard BBQ with family and all the boys girlfriends and one of the girlfriends parents. Was a lot of work, but I think everyone had fun. We put up the fireworks we bought in Lancaster and they were so pretty!
