Almost got her...

Good Sunday Morning to you all,

Today is April 1rst and the beginning of a new month for us all to do better in our diet and health endeavors. I have learned so much in the past 2 years about what is healthy and what isn't now. You don't have to be perfect - you just have to be willing to give it your very best try and This WILL WORK!!

Some of you might know that we have lived in our current house for 1 1/2 years now. We had lost our other home trying to do a loan mod and things just went Pluey! We are doing a lease option with the owner of this house and our time is almost up to make a decision.

I remember when I first got here and walked the dogs around the new neighborhood and met some neighbors telling them that I lost 40lbs. I lost the other 50 after moving. It amazing what we can do in difficult times of stress if we set our minds to it.

I am not sure what we will wind up doing yet, but if things don't work out here - we will wind up moving again by the end of this year. I can't sleep and my eyes are so puffy. Every time I do get tired - Hubby starts snoring real loud and - well you know, hence the puffy eyes.

I feel just so tired and I don't even work. Maybe its mental. I know I have said this before -  but if I didn't have Mandy and Peaches - I might not ever smile. Oh well.

What I ate yesterday:
breakfast:  2 scrambled eggs w/mushroom, onion, baby spinach and cheese, 2 zucchini-cheese muffins w/natures hollow on top.

lunch: an almond crust pizza. I made the crust w/1/2 c almond flour, 1 egg, 1 t olive oil, 1 tb coconut flour, spices-garlic and onion powder, red pepper, and italian seasoning, and 1/2 c of different shredded cheese (yes in the crust). Mix and Bake at 350 for about 15 min, then take out and put your toppings on and back under the broiler till done. As you can see I put jalapenos on this one too and it was so spicy. Yum

Then I went to Sam's club, Walmart and Sprouts - then back home.

Took the dogs on a 2.5 mile walk. It was over cast and I was not sure if it was gonna rain - but we took the chance and it didn't. While we were walking thru this big field next to the High School, Mandy just suddenly stopped right in front of me while we had a pretty good strut goin on. I think she say a bunny - they are all over there and that's why we walk thru there. They love smelling and looking at all the critters.

So I kicked Mandy by accident - she went YIPE! - then I stepped on her foot - she went YIP! then I lost my balance and she was right under me - I almost crushed her back! - Peaches is fast and jumped out of the way - And I fell - Twister style on my hands with my butt up in the air so I wouldn't kill her.

She looked up at me crying and smiling and kissed me and then just sat down with her foot up in the air. I rubbed it for her and told her to shake it off - cause she is 55lbs and too big for me to carry 1.5 miles back home. Well anyway she limped for about 5 steps - I think she wanted more hugs and then she was fine Thank Goodness!!

Dinner was my fav, wings and a spinach salad and rediwhip and 2 squares of 85% for desert.

That's it for now - Remember that food does not fill that hole in our hearts or keep us from being bored - it just makes us FAT!!

    For a year now we've had a dog (our rescue pup from Pomona Shelter!!) and only until recently did I have a lightbulb moment and start incorporating my daily exercise with my dog. I KNOW, DUH!! Before, I would bike with her, but only to run out her energy, I never got the work out. I would go to the gym most days and feel so unmotivated! So now I walk 7 days a week with her and make it worth it! I power walk the whole way and she loves it!! We do 4 miles 4 days a week and 1.5 on the others days (and do the Nike app for weights) on 3 days. I love listening to my music while she loves the smells and sights. It's a Win-Win! Plus, I see my thighs and hips shaping up. Yay!

    In other thoughts, have you had your thyroid levels checked for hypothyroidism? I had my thyroid out at age 18 for hypothyroidism and still, at age 37, suffer from fatigue (and I'm a stay at home mom now). I also get down in the dumps easily, which is also a symptom of thyroid issues (but also seasonal during Feb-April, so keep that in mind).

    Thanks for your daily blog posts. I do enjoy them and it gives me a nudge to eat better and move more when I am feeling lazy. Enjoy this BEAUTIFUL So Cal day!!!

  3. Please also smile knowing u help people! You help me almost every week when I check your blog. I am really grateful for you. You may not "work" like at an official job, but you do what you can to help others even though you're not getting paid for it! *THAT* makes you a really good person and knowing how much you are appreciated should make you SMILE!   4. Yes Rosalie...you have lots of girlfriends here who love you so you cant say we arent your friends. You have more than you think. We are just cyber buddies but we all care about you so chin up!

  5. Sometimes when your iron levels are down it makes you tired too! Still I think you do pretty well if you can still do all that walking. I hope things work out for you with the house in what ever decision you guys make. Stress can tire you out quickly also!

  6. Poor Mandy! Glad you two are okay! Im with you on the insomnia. I finally slept last night, but it;s been a week of insomnia! That's why I haven't been commenting as much because I'm so tired (and the kids have a lot of sports)! Have you tried sublingual B12? Dr Oz says we stop absorbing as much when we get older. I bought some from Walmart and it has helped my energy. I also feel that it's helped my moods. Since it's pretty inexpensive, it's worth a shot ;)Dont worry about the house, just go with your gut.

Glad to see you survived the fall, not sure I would have been able to walk the 1.5 mi afterwards ;) I've been dealing with the fatigue like yourself, thank goodness Idon't work either, as I don't know what I would do if I had to get up for work. I recently found out that I was extremely low on D3 (was at 15, have it up to 29 now but that's still low) in addition my thyroid TSH levels has almost doubled in 6 months. My General Dr seems to think this is 'normal' but I'm not accepting that response. Luckily, I have a PPO plan so I went for another opinionwith a Naturopath Dr. He suggested that I take 300mg of magnesium at night and it helped with my insomnia almost immediately. I'm doing the sublingual B-12 also and we're running adrenals tests to see if they're out of balance. I had been waking up at 2am and not able to fall back to sleep until around 6am. Since adding the magnesium I'm able to sleep all night, if for some reason I wake up I've been able to go back to sleep pretty immediately. I don't know why our GP's don't tell us about these little things that we can do to help our bodies function so much better. I'd complained about fatigue and inability to sleep for so many years and had basically been left to believe it was 'all in my head' so glad that its not! I still have to have more tests on the thyroid to see if that's adding to the fatigue, but at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

  8. Rosalie just wanted to say you are a inspiration to me! I am new to the BFC so I read your blog daily to help me keep on track! My husband and myself truck it all over the states so I have to deal with fast food and or microwaveable foods so it is hard but I keep trying! I suffer from Hypothyroidism and some of things your feeling I go through to! Keep up the good work and can someone please let me know how to tip Rosalie as well? Thanks Lynette

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
