Sunday of week 42: The Belly Fat Cure

Well, Good Morning All,

How is everyone this fine and beautiful morning?? It's been such nice weather over here in southern California, about 80 in the daytime and colder at night around 45.

Yesterday I ate:
breakfast; 3 eggs w/sauted mushrooms, onions, cheese, 2 strips of turkey bacon cooked crispy and crumbled into the eggs, 1/2 avocado cut up in, and 7 blackberries, and coffee blah, blah, blah.
lunch; a little chicken and some veggies that was left over from the night before.

OK so I went to the baby shower yesterday. I have to say it was a great time! But I was having such a hard time with all the food around me. I never usually have that problem, being the veteran that I am.
They had a a taco guy, music, tons of drinks and booze that I couldn't have,
sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries at every table, a huge pot of homemade Pozole,
and yes cupcakes! and much more!

To be honest with you I didn't have and carbs with breakfast or lunch because I thought we would just skip out of the party after a few hours and then go to the movies. Well we were having such a good time, we just stayed.

I had some water and a little meat with salsa on top with about 6 tortilla chips and some guacamole. After about an hour or 2 I was just sitting there with my head in my hands, saying WOW this is hard. I went over to the bar and saw nothing I could have - so I had some Patron tequilla in a cup over ice with lime squeezed in. The problem was that it was about 5:00pm by now and I was having such a HARD time trying not to eat any more.

Hubby had like 6 of the chocolate covered strawberries. In front of me! of course! I begged him to go everto the taco guy and get me 1 small corn tortilla. At first he said "no you shouldn't have that". But I explained to him that I didn't have any carbs yet except for the 6 tortilla chips all day. So he got one for me.

Keep in mind that I hardly ever go off my path or ever cheat! Cheating to me is eating carbs past lunch or taking 1 bite of cake. So that's why it was so hard. So I wen thru the kitchen to go to the bathroom and guess what? All the older mothers were in there and said " want some Pozole"?

OK - so that is one of my favorite soups! But the hominy is not really BFC friendly. So I had about 2 inches in a small bowl - just so I could taste it again. Yum! And yes, I felt like I was doing something wrong. When in retrospect - I really wasn't. Then I got a cupcake for hubby and took 1 bite then gave him the rest.

Then everyone watched the fight on HBO. That was fun watching 2 guys beat the living crap out of each other! LOL!

Well no movie yesterday - maybe today. But hubby is working so it will be by myself if I do.

I hope everyone has a great rest of the day!

Thanks for listening. Love to all of my BFC friends. Please leave your comments.

My thought of the day:

  1. You did great, i know how much strength that takes when there's so many temptations, i've been there, especially cupcakes they are my favorite. I don't know if you've ever heard of HU-Hot's,(Asian style) we just got one in our local mall. It's a great place to eat BFC. You fill a bowl with meat, vegie, sauce and oil or broth. They cook it for you and hand you your plate, it was really good!
I checked out that sight someone mentioned about our hormones. It's womentowomen.com..there is so much great information for us menapausal women. You should check it out! Have a good Sunday...

  2. I don't know if you have ever watched jorge's fast good swaps but he goes to taco bell and says that you can have THREE crunchy taco's...the corn tortilla was a great choice....two fills me up ..but the fact is that three are okay. The taco bar was your friend.

  3. Yes I know that they are OK, the only problem was that I never eat carbs past lunch. So for me I felt like I was doing something wrong when I really wasn't.

  4. Yay for you!!! You did fabulous. I hope you are very proud of yourself. You set the limit of not carbs past lunch, and you can also decide to have carbs past lunch one day, or every day if you like. Either way, you definitely stayed within limit. I'm very proud of you! Don't let your own rule cause you guilt. HIGH FIVE!!!!!!!

  5. Congrats on surviving a tought situtation. We are thrown those kind of curve balls everyday and we cant run from them. You are learning the most important steps on how to survive in the world and stay thin. And we only thought movie stars can do it...lol. Great Job!

  6. Oh, Rosalie! Yeah for you! what a mental struggle. Its good to talk about it like this and know that you are making choices that you didn't make a year ago (if you were to be at the same party). Think about what and how much party food you might have chosen last year? Go back and look at party pics from the past. You're working hard now to make great choices to stay healthy.
I ran the Silver Strand Half Marathon today with my Running Divas group. I ran my 13.1 miles in 2:01..a new Personal Record today after doing Disneyland Half Marathon in 2:09.Afterwards, the Divas wanted to go to Red Robin for a burger, fries, and soft drink. I ordered a bacon and cheddar burger wrapped in lettuce/bunless, no mayo and 8 steak fries. I counted them out-no catsup.I left the other fries in my meal basket. Yeah! I would have eaten ALL my fries 6 months ago (and asked for my FREE refill) I didn't want diet soda...stayed with my ice water.
Take care all! and keep BFC'n!Darlene

  8. Awesome job Rosalie...way to live out this WOE. The greatest thing about how you handled these temptations was you stayed in control. At no moment were you out of control. Glad you had a great time. I love your posts...so worth waiting for for us east coasters.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.

I hope this helps.
