How I Got HERE...

Hello Friends,

Just in case none of you know how I got here, where I am today and if you didn't read my "About Me" page, I will share with you now. Hopefully it will inspire you to do the same.

About Me:
I was overweight and unhappy about my appearance. I just knew I would never be able to lose any weight at my age.  I accepted the fact that I would be that size forever.

My husband and a few friends at the Fire Dept where he works, started this crazy raw food 30 day diet on January 1st, 2010. I told him, I'll eat veggies and salad with you but I'm not gonna diet and I'm still gonna eat meat.

Well, half way thru he saw something on TV about The Belly Fat Cure book. He said I have this book I want to buy for you. I said no thanks. He always, only reads all these boring Self-Help kind of books. He said that's OK, I'm gonna get it anyways. I said, Well you're just gonna be wasting your money, cause I'm probably not gonna read it and I'm definitely not gonna do it.

Well I just ignored the book for a few days and then read through it. A few times in fact and said to him, I think I can do this!

Well - here I am, I have been doing the Belly Fat Cure since Jan 25th 2010 and I was 51 when I started. It took me 1 year to lose the weight.. I can't say enough how great and healthy I feel by doing this!! I am now 55 years old 5ft 6 1/2" and my goal was to loose weight and to get down to 145-150 lbs. When I started I was 238 lbs and I wore a very tight size 18 and 20's.

I have now reached my goal and lost 90 lbs and have kept it off and wear a size 6. I did this with NO strenuous exercise, I only walk every day with my dogs.

Now I continue to write this blog to help others by offering support, tips and healthy recipes that I come across. I write this for YOU!! Not for the recognition - but just to help others. If I can help YOU get healthy and to a size you will be proud of - well then, that's all I want.

  1. Hi Rosalie, it's Angie again. This time I just want to say thank you for your words of support your tips your recipes and for your blog, don't ever stop. Am going on vacation soon and what am taking with me on this trip it's your kind words of encouragement you said to me even though you have never met me, which were. YOU CAN DO THIS.   5. Its saids you take a multi for women over 50, I have tried many brands that don't agree with me. It's there one in particular you are taking that works for you.

  6. hi rosie...this is carole back again after a long hiatus..why? because ive been too busy trying other diets and u know what? jorges way is the only one i actually lost 15 lbs on..but what happened after six mos of that my body said..unh unh i know what u trying to do!! and i stopped losing...which is why i looked for another diet...i do like the dash diet cuz its good for blood pressure and other things..so...i think im back to trying jorge again.. and still incorporating the dash...think i can do that??? love your new page by the way havent had a chance to look at it..and u look great! i know ur a busy gal but would love a reply to this.. i dont have jorges book which means back to the library...one question tho i remember no more than 15 g sugar and no more than 120g carbs...can u tell me if the carbs in veggies counts because rite now im counting EVERYTHING!! so can u give me a little boot in the butt? thanks a bunch

    1. To be honest with you I never even look at anything else, so I don't know the dash.
      Just eat healthy foods, no more than 5 grams of sugar and 2 servings (40g) of carbs per meal. Make sure to count EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth.

    2. Yes ive been doing that and keeping the sugar down but with the carbs i seem to be gaining. 40g of carb per meal sounds like a lot. Is that veggie carb or whole grain like oatmeal? Thanx for reply

    3. That's ANYTHING you put in your mouth. add everything up together for your meal. You certainly don't have to eat 2 servings at each meal. I never eat carbs with dinner. Usually just some kind of meat and veggie or salad.

Some tips if you are having trouble

  • First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
  • Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
  • Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
  • Make sure you drink lots of water.
  • Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
  • Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
  • Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
  • Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
