Good Morning Friends,
I woke up this morning and turned on Facebook to see what's going on and I saw a post from Jorge suggesting that you skip breakfast to lose weight. He said that "skipping breakfast was bad for you" was proven scientifically WRONG by the New England Journal of Medicine.
So naturally everyone commented for and against his recent post. Wow if you haven't seen it - you should go read all the comments. Just go to his wall on Facebook and you will see it.
For those of you that have followed me for a while, you already know how I feel on this subject. I think BREAKFAST is the MOST IMPORTANT meal in your day. I feel that we should eat 3 meals a day to regulate our systems so we are not burning the muscle instead of fat.
I am no Doctor or not even a Nutritionalist but I know NOW how to be healthy. I know that if I skip breakfast I will get super hungry and will probably wind up eating any and everything in site. You should eat within 2 hours of waking up.
Just think about this for a minute... I always try to be done eating my dinner by 7pm so that means I haven't eaten anything for at least 12 hours or more likely. Like I said I am no doctor but if I skip a meal and the longer I wait to eat my body is NOT happy. I tend to get the shakes and need food.
I don't care if any of you don't agree with me!!! But I know from losing all that weight that it is NOT healthy for your body to skip your breakfast!! You see this is one of those Fad thingy's that I talk about. Someone just saying what they thing YOU want to hear, and of course you listen. Everyone is looking for the fast and easy way to lose weight and be thin.
But like we all have been saying lately - it is much more important to be HEALTHY first and skipping a meal is not the way to be healthy!!
That's my BLACH for today. Sorry I just threw up on you. LOL
I want EVERYONE to comment and tell us what YOU thought about his post...And remember to always be nice. :-)
Thanks for listening and have a great day...
This is PurpleRosy signing off...
Keep on BFC ' n :-)

Some tips if you are having trouble
- First make sure that you are staying under the 15/6. 15 sugars and 6 servings of carbs for the whole day. Thats no more than 5 sugars and 2 servings of carbs per meal.
- Track all of your sugar/carbs. Add everything from your meal together and count them that way.
- Try to stop eating whole grain carbs after 3pm.
- Make sure you drink lots of water.
- Count everything that you put into your mouth. Even sauces - everything , check labels.
- Make sure that you don't eat any artificial sugars. Check labels, if it says sugar free - look in the ingredients, look for....sucralose, aspartame, saccharine in the ingredients. Those are BAD!
- Going #2 is a big problem when a lot of people start the BFC. I have solved that problem with Clear Benefiber in my morning coffee and a scoop of Super Seed w/water in the afternoon. (you can buy the super seed on Amazon.com it is the cheapest).
- Choose your carbs wisely. Try to pick the carbs that will give you the lowest count of carbs, sugar and calories and the most fiber.
I hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteWhat? that is crazy. Everyone needs breakfast, maybe not a Logger breakfast, but something. I agree with you Rosy, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Gives us fuel for the day.
ReplyDeleteI also hate it when "THEY" change things....
Crystal
here is what this situation reminds me of: Lindsay Lohan! She was cute and successful in movies such as Parent Trap and Mean Girls and then she lost her way. I feel like Jorge has lost his way from what originally made him successful. The original Belly Fat cure helped a lot of people lose weight, including me. Yes, science does change; however, I feel like Jorge is bandwagon jumping from one fad to the next and that wasn't like him a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've never met him, I am sad that this is how things have turned out. I have promoted HIM to a lot of people and now I realized that I should have just promoted my new way of eating rather than the man himself.
We need breakfast, I can relate to people who say that they seem more hungry if they eat breakfast, but that's because they eat the wrong things. If I have a bowl of cereal in the morning with milk, then I'm starving an hour and a half later but that's because I spiked my blood sugar and it fell just as fast so of course I'm hungry, but if we eat the right breakfast then it makes our day so much better. I agree breakfast is so important, and what's even more important is eating the right breakfast! I also agree that I have to take some of what jorge says and not all of what he says as truth because he is constantly contradicting himself, he talks in his book as if everything he says is the holly grail of nutrition, but that only works if he sticks to his guns!! I have a feeling it's all about selling another book, can't just stick to what works!! I'm sure he's a great guy, but sometimes I question his ethics and motives!
ReplyDeleteWe had a review of the article in our paper too. Here's what it said:
ReplyDelete"Independent researchers say the authors have some valid points. Many of the report's authors also have deep financial ties to food, beverage and weight loss product makers- the disclosures take up half a page of fine print in the journal."
In other words, there may be reasons for the studies findings. It did go on to promote weight loss meds and surgery.
Jorge is making money and rolling with the current tides. I did see him on 2 shows recently still talking about sugar though.
Someone already skipping breakfast will take it as an affirmation that they were right all along, someone who loves their breakfast, as you do, will debunk it!
I personally believe in breakfast:)
As one of the Facebook posters said, "the article seemed to lean toward drugs and surgery", which of course, is not the message that should be sent to the public. However, I don't know if Jorge meant to say that breakfast is unnecessary as much as he might have meant to convey that you don't have to eat to the time of day, meaning just because it is 12 noon you shouldn't shovel food in because it is considered lunchtime. I agree that anyone who says breakfast is unnecessary should not be followed, but if one decides to have breakfast at 10 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. because that is when hunger sets in, that is ok. I totally agree with Rosalie that there should definitely be a cut off time in the evening for eating. So I may be wrong with how I construed what Jorge was trying to convey, but this is what I took away from it because all too often I have eaten a meal just because of what the clock said and not because I was hungry.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is just another thing that we need to follow our own bodies' lead on. Some people are good breakfast eaters, and others aren't. You have to find out for yourself if you need to eat breakfast or not, from a healthy body standpoint. Just my two cents. Also, I think that a lot of what Jorge does and says is to make sure that everyone gets what they want out of their diet, so long as we all get results. I guess that's another 2 cents. Four cents' worth, LOL
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kelli and Dawn. I do eat breakfast everyday, but not always 2 hours after getting up, especially when I'm up really early, which is a lot.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I see at fbook site, pretty split. Some have to have Bkfst others don't. Myself, if I eat Bkfst, it makes me hungrier the rest of the day but I do have at least a protein shake then lunch at 11 or 1 depending how I feel. Also cream in my coffee is filling too. I read a book once Carbohydrate Addict, I think, and they stated that some carb addicts will do better without Bkfst, even a healthy low carb one!! Very individual, find what works for u, as Rosalie has done :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If I miss breakfast I will end up eating every thing in sight. Shirley P.
